Yup, passing to your teammates is no where near challenging them to be the best version of themself. That’s how you make your teammates better.

Ummm ..... I dunno about that. My BS sniffer is going off. For one thing it would be incredibly bad for your eyes and could quickly cause permanent damage. Then again .... he is the guy with these eyes.

As great as those videos are, they disgust me to think of the s*** Harden has done to the beauty of the game.

18+three point attempts/game is not beautiful basketball.
Uncalled travels and offensive fouls is not beautiful basket ball.
Offensive flopping is not beautiful basketball.

Imagine if Kobe had the gall to play like Harden. I wouldn't have been a fan, but his stats would be off the charts.

Those Battier hands in the face would come with neck snapped back pretend contact and1's. Also, with Kobe's footwork and ability to get defenders off balance, imagine if he threw his body into the defender looking for the foul instead of the jumpshot. Look at how many of kobe's jumpshots were contested. All he had to do was flop into the defender or throw out his legs like Harden does. Instead he actually tried to make the shot. Lastly, imagine kobe launching 18 threes/game. Oh god. Harden shoots a better %, but a big part of that is that kobe shot a ton of F*** it 3's when the game was seemingly out of reach. And it's easier for modern players to stay in rhythm shooting 3's so frequently.

I was in the youtube wormhole late last night watching insane extreme skiing (gotta love GoPro footage) and then ventured into the top row where Google likely from all the data mining of my a** was just throwing random must watch stuff at me. Then a shining beacon of Laker light cut through the funk of this the most unbelievably horrible of Lakers seasons for me personally ..... and handed me this clip from Kobe's MVP season with Lamar and Pau and Fish as his running mates. Not much of his Js or fall back 3s but just great fierce competitive Kobe.

But he did not see their sad faces in person when making that declaration. Yeah you’re right, wouldn’t have mattered lol.

I am surprised to hear he said that though

I adore Kobe, as is well documented throughout the site.

Having said that I sincerely doubt he understands the cap or is aware of FAs availability in the upcoming summer, let alone the next one.

I also doubt he knew what the actual offer was. It certainly wasn't those 3 and that's it.

He also admitted to not following the Lakers too closely, since he retired, so I doubt he really understands how much of a liability LeStat has become .

Bottom line, all these players should "STFU and dribble" on team management and coaching issues.

BTW, had the Lakers caved to Bynum for Kidd trade demand, I am not positive we'd have those 2 titles. Bynum's physicality was important. Not sure Pau and Lamar for 48 minutes at 4 and 5 would have cut it against Boston.

If the Pau trade happened as well as the Kidd trade we still win the first of the two in my opinion.

But I agree players need to stick to playing, I figure Kobe was saying if you have the opportunity you go for a generational talent.

Why? Kobe has always wanted to run with vets and experience. That’s something he and Bron do have in common. The reason I hate when Lebron says it is because he wants the vets to carry him or “make it easy” so he can get his stats while still winning.

When Bynum wasn’t injured, yes he was another big body that played defense and was key in the 09-10 runs, but I’m 99.9% sure that if we had gotten Kidd we would have gotten the 3 peat like we were supposed to from 2008-2010. I don’t think people really understood or remember the value that Kidd brought to a team as a leader. Look at how Lonzo changed our team when he was on the floor. Now give Lonzo 10+ years of NBA experience and multiple all-star appearances and imagine what he would bring to our team as a leader, defensively, and as a floor general.

Bynum barely played in either of our finals series. Most games we closed out with LO and Gasol. And I really doubt you'd prefer Fisher over Kidd in those lineups.

I vividly recall Bynum playing around 15 minutes (without looking this up)... and giving something to the extent of 10/7 or so. May be not in the Finals...

Regardless, the only reason Bynum was this limited was the injuries. Kobe couldn't have predicted that. Healthy Bynum was a much much better fit for the team over Kidd, even with Fisher in his stead.

    So, the point still stands.

Me personally am disappointed in Kobe being matter of fact about it. If it had been Kobe with what burned inside him to excel that this was being said about rather than say Ingram with I imagine a high quotient of the same thing burning inside him .....how down with it would he have been? Eff that Kobe. The easier and truthful thing to say is that these are very tough and sometimes gut wrenching choices that have to be made by the organization.

I can't express how cool this is. I have the biggest smirk on my face when I watch this because what's the thing Kobe always said while playing he never wanted to get into coaching no matter the level. But I think this suits him best because he can really teach the game at a younger level while the kids are still young and can soak things up. Fundamentally sound and cool that Kobe talks about this being a 6 year plan for these girls. So cool to see!
