I think they are better off waiting for a good coach to lose their job than to pick from the current crop of jobless coaches. I've always liked Nate McMillan and wished we could get him before his diamond in the rough became an exposed diamond as it seems to with the Pacers.

My biggest problem with Lue is he does a poor job of developing young talent. JC, Hood and Nance all fell off a cliff after playing for him in Cleveland.

That is probably more a product of them adapting to a new team and the fact that they had already peaked before coming to Cleveland. Nance and JC reached their potential already.

that's what i think, too. i mentioned in another thread that terry stotts is one to keep an eye on. good coach who will probably get blamed when portland is (easily) upset by a lower seed.

List of coaches and contracts from 2017, so it's outdated, but shows some names and potential availability

    NBA Head Coach Contracts

    coaches.png

Here's a list of coaches that coached in the last 3 years, and then sorted by winning percentage to get an idea of the best active and top performing coaches. Far column on right shows the active coaches that have won a championship, and the list is SMALL. Only likely candidate available is Lue from that list unless someone gets fired, etc. Maybe somebody new gets added this year, but slim pickens.

Also, look how few coaches have a winning percentage of 60% for their career. Dang.

JVG for defense. SVG for his 1 in 4 out offense with Lebron in the post.

I'd go with the Van Gundy brothers and hire a great shooting coach as well

Lakers after every star of every team and now interested in every coach in the NBA...

In the meantime... Still below .500.

Most desperate franchise in the NBA by far... So sad.

Before 2012 in 50+ years the Clippers were better than the Lakers exactly 4 times...since tben they have been better 7 consecutive seasons... SEVEN.

Being interested in multiple names is a good thing. Shows there will be a true search and we will try to hire the best person instead of just locking in on someone and hiring them.

I read this as Ty Lue will be hired like the day after Luke is fired to appease LeBron and those other names will be thrown out there to make it look like they were considered. Great.

Lakers are all about the flashy hire. That's why they want to go out and get big names. Also look at who they hired. Kardashian's former trainer. Bryon Scott and then Luke Walton as the coach. It's all about making a "splash." I don't think Lue fits that mold. Who might it be? I honestly don't know.

I wanted Luke when we were in search of a head coach; shows how much I know.

Right now, I would go after Monty Williams. I think he could be a very good hire...assistant for years, leader, and more importantly a very quality person.

    That's my guy.
