Rob hasn’t even had this job for one full year yet, I would hope we could be a little more patient than this. We might not be great, but he and Magic were left a huge mess to clean up and they have done a lot of that already.
It doesn’t seem like Pelinka even had much to do with any of this. The Pelicans wanted to talk directly to Magic, probably because negotiation is what Pelinka is good at. Magic is a pitch man. Pelinka is a negotiator. If you want to make us look bad, you want to talk to the one that isn’t a negotiator by trade.
Huh ? Magic barely shows up in the office all season long . Pelinka has bad history with NOP , "breaking the unwritten rules" ...
It's a bit silly for us to be upset with Rob and Magic, but that's how far we've come so quickly, and how high the bar has been raised. We're on the right track, but everyone is impatient. Lebron said he's here for the long haul, and he became impatient too. It's just human nature.
Mike surprisingly asked the good questions I wanted asked like: Why were our young guys' names dragged through the media and out in the open so much and If they still support Luke who has had an impossible job lately with injuries and our young players losing your minds with trade talk stuff.
Rob & Kob seem like such an odd couple. Kob the shark... Rob's more of the JesusFish giving a sermon to all the shark chum. Insert eyeroll here Melo vs Markieff One makes a better #SmashBro than the other.
Sorry I’m calling BS on Rob’s “we have enough shooting” comment. Playmaking is great but we are one of the worst teams in the NBA on WIDE OPEN shots. Doesn’t matter if you move the ball to the open man if the open man clanks it.
Not a huge fan of the Locked On Lakers podcast but Pete (LFR) was on it and he took shots at Woj and brought up a good point. When guys like Woj, Mannix, etc were taking shots at us, where were our people hitting back. Ramona and Tania did fact checking, Turner was leaking facts, Ding was nowhere to be found... Where were our guns? The only reason things got so out of hand was because of the credibility Woj has so everything he put out were taken as fact. We know Magic won't do that, he's the closer when we need deals done. We need Rob to be that shark that he was (reportedly) when he was an agent. Rich Paul did some but we needed more.
You can be a good Christian and still be a shark in business. As long as you aren't doing anything unethical, you play to win. 1 Cor. 9:24 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."
Thx Savs...I was just f***ing around. We still gotta break bread with those folks in Nawlins, so we really can't speak reckless about them (yet). I'm confident Rob & Magic will continue to conduct themselves with class and get this s*** done in the summer (which was always more ideal anyways).
Absolutely, I agree with both of you. Taking the high road is the best thing we can do. Showing class and kindness is the way to go.
The problem that I read was that agents and GM's didn't like that Rob was becoming a GM with all his connections. Hence the KCP trade that got us the inside with Rich Paul in the first place, and the fact that Klutch was able to get AD as an agent. It's probably wasn't all coincidence, Rob knows the ins and outs of how the player market works, because he's been on the other side. He knows what it takes to get GM's to talk to a particular agent they want without getting "caught" or to get the first step into the courting of player not yet on the team. Why do you think Aaron Mintz was so damn pissed? He knew it was happening since the beginning and that none of his agents go any looks. So factor that into all of Magic's "tampering", just being the Lakers in general, and us being able to pull of the best deals, just made the target on our backs that much bigger. Rob may look like a clean cut guy on the outside, but he's really a Mamba on the inside, which is why Kobe is so close to him.
