There are quite a few options at SF this offseason with Middleton, Carroll, Leonard, Butler, Matthews, Green.

Obviously Wes is damaged goods, but I wouldn't mind going after him cheap, but long term. I know time is technically of essence, but that'll give more time to other guys who may want to develop, maybe even throw Randle in a SF sometimes with a big frontcourt, while Matthews comes back from injury.

Healthy, Brook would actually be a decent fit next to Randle. Brook actually has a good post game along with a decent stroke. Defensively, he takes up a lot of space with his length and affects a lot of shots. He may not have the best foot speed, but he's a big guy.

Middleton might be the easiest to pry away when you consider Parker will be back next season. He also isn't in a "system" like Danny Green is.
I'd worry about our interior defense and rebounding. Not sure Randle will be munching up a ton of boards, and Lopez's rebounding is pathetic for a man of his size.

If we draft a wing or PG, I could see us going in this direction. According to Woj, we had an interest in him last year, but we lacked the assets for any potential deal. The problem with Brook is health. Chronic foot injuries to a big man is never a good thing at all...

Some good names there. Someone else brought up that Carroll is unlikely to leave. Butler is a strong possibility to leave if we throw a max at him. Green is gettable for the right price. Matthews I'd be fine giving a deal to if it was reasonable. Middleton is the youngest with the most potential, but it's unclear how much it'd cost to get him.

Butler is a good call. I remember reading earlier in the season how we could make a big play for him. I'd love that. If we can draft a big, I'd throw the sink at Butler no problem.

    Okafor

I just came up with this in the other thread... That would seriously be amazing. One more signee (Durant in 2016 or Westbrook in 2017) and we've got a straight up dynasty again. Given 2-3 years to marinate and prepare of course.

Dude is restricted though and I see no way Chicago doesn't match short of Butler killing Krause's dog.

Someone in the league office would step in there and kill any deal for Butler.

The Bulls are pretty much AT the cap before Butler next season.

Are they willing to pay the full max for him and the tax penalty that goes along with them?

They've hinted they would, but I'm not quite sure. I love Butler, though. Byron would love Butler, too.

Maybe and maybe not. They've got to have their foundations shaken a bit with Rose's reinjury.

Their owner says he's willing to pay for a contender, but look at them right now: Tied with the Raptors in the East. They're not REALLY contenders, so would the owner balk at paying that bill?

He'd probably do it just to keep Jimmy out of LA's hands, but it might be worth the shot. I wouldn't mind Middleton either, but Butler has already taken the strides Middleton might take. Butler is still only 25 years old too.

If the Lakers luck out and grab one of the bigs this summer they'll have almost every position filled except for SF. They could afford to tie their cash up in an RFA. If we're so lucky... Look out NBA. Even if we don't and we draft Winslow or Johnson, we're still in GREAT shape. Maybe a year back from where Butler would take us.

Butler + Towns/Okafor= rebuild done in a year.
    Middelton+ Towns/Okafor or Winslow/Johnson + Monroe/Jordan= rebuild done in 2-3 years.

    Chicago's guaranteed total for 2015-2016 - 60.16 million

NBA Projected Salary cap - 67 million

Luxury tax line is usually 12-13 million above the Salary Cap - 79 million

16 million for Butler + 2.5 million Player Option Hinrich

    Total = 78.66 million

With the cap exploding next offseason, Chicago is in no real trouble here.

No they're not, but we'll see what they decide. They may decide to blow it up and try again around someone else. Rose clearly can't be built around like everyone wanted him to be.

Even so, the idea is still solid. Grab one of the solid SFs available in FA if we draft our big man of the future. There were rumors of the Lakers going after Butler early in the year. I would have to think that would hold true for other solid RFAs like Leonard and Middleton.

I didn't know this...so, it's not has bad I thought from a salary standpoint; even then, if they were in trouble and didn't want to pay him max dollars, they'd see what they could get in a S&T.

I would be shocked if he left but I think we should definitely make a couple calls and see if there is any interest.

We will to all MAX FA's to see if there is any interest. We always go after the 'name' even as recently as last year...
