Yup, more unnecessary antagonistic comments that aren't going to do any good. I'm trying to think who he could be talking about, but whoever it is, they're probably being unfairly criticized just because Scott feels the need to be a hard a**. We're tanking, we're a bad team, Scott has made some asinine line-up changes throughout the season, players don't know what role they're going to be in and for how long, and yet Scott keeps talking crap on them. Some of these players might end up bad mouthing our organization to potential free agents.

I seen it. I posted it in the FA thread. I think 80% of the fan base knows Scott is an average coach with a penchant of handing over the X's and O's to his assistant. Apparently, he's attempting to instill an attitude of hard-work, discipline, and pride back into the Lakers players.

One thing Scott hasn't done or has done very infrequently over the course of the season is take the blame for anything bad that happens to the team.

He took the blame for Kobe's injury and playing him too much and one loss this season.

The guy throws a lot of stones for someone who has no business throwing them. Who wants to be in a foxhole with someone that's going to blame you for being in there in the 1st place?

Scott has, in his words, shot Swaggy P and Lin in the back over the course of the season. Some were justified, but others comments were just unnecessary.

I thought Pringles couldn't handle the media and interviews but Byron is worse than him.

"I got a sense of a whole lot of them I wouldn't want to be in a fox hole with," Scott said after Monday's practice. "I think they'd end up shooting me in the back. So I've got a pretty good sense of the guys that I think are going to be around, that we will build around, build together in this process and go through it."

Well I like it,Scott knows what it's like to win, This is straight from the Pat Riley school of motivation. Since we don't know what practices have been like except the well publicized Kobe blow up this comment speaks volumes on how these guys prepare. This whole season has been an unbearable watch and it's not due to seeing Scott's disgusted looks on the bench. The fact is he will be the coach next year and during exit interviews with the Laker brass he will be the biggest voice on who he wants back. My guess is, excluding the obvious, Brown, Black, and Ellington are the only ones he'd like to see.

If this front office doesn't upgrade this coaching staff this off-season, I'm going to be pissed. There is absolutely no way I will stand for this next season. I'll tune out next year and pay more attention to other teams...

Tanking is one thing. He's killing the vibe for next year. Who wants to play for a dude who says stuff like that to the media?

Asked if Nick Young is coachable, Byron Scott said, “We’ll find out.”

    Bill Oram @billoram · 53m53 minutes ago
Byron Scott said his inflammatory statements about Young, others, are nothing new. “It’s called coaching,” he said.

Byron Scott’s comments have made their way to the Lakers. One was glad to hear it. “He said what needed to be said,” Ed Davis said.

    Bill Oram @billoram · 22m22 minutes ago
Ed Davis was glad to hear Byron hold locker room accountable. “I just know he wasn’t talking about me 100%.”

I came here to post this. This is another situation where I think I'm totally against what the consensus of the board is. I'm with Byron on these statements. I think if Kobe was saying this, we'd have a different reaction.

The point is there's some guys on the team that aren't fighting to the end. He's calling them out through the media. I'm sure he's doing it in practice (or has done it) too. If there's a guy on the team that's mailing it in, they don't deserve to be here next year. Just because there's no hope of the Playoffs doesn't mean I want guys out there going through the motions. We need players here who want to win regardless of the circumstances. It's why I want Ed Davis back even though he'll create a bit of a logjam. The guy is a warrior and I'd gladly go to battle with him on the court.

If there's guys out there who don't want to be here anymore, I'd bench them. I'd send a message to the FO and the league "hey these are the guys who don't care about winning really all that much."

Maybe I'm worse than Byron. :D

Byron, call Mike Malone. I'm telling you that will be the best thing you ever did...

I was unsure about Davis, and his view...this is good to hear... I too am on board with Scott calling out the players on the worst team in the history of the Purple and Gold.

A bunch of these slackers won't be here next year; the front office will upgrade the roster, and I would expect Scott to upgrade his staff.

Hearing Davis support Scott's comments definitely changes my perspective on that.

If Kobe said it, i would be more than OK with it. But... what did Byron do for us? Run Kobe in to the ground, played guys with "grit" instead of the ones with skills, implemented some r******* rotations. Guys like Ed give their all no matter the coach, other play for new contracts. Im harsh on Byron but he showed me SQUAT this season... plus i never wanted him in the first place:giggle:

It seems his words resonated a bit with a squad who pushed much harder tonight. Black looked a hell of a lot more focused. Boozer and Hill didn't play... Wes played but we don't really have many other forwards.

Say it to the guys? Sure. Say it to the media? I don't know.
