Lee's coffee is better, the banh no is better at Cali but there are better banh mi places though. Trust me, this is the food of my people. EDIT: Hmm thought I wrote it, regardless, Lynda's has the best sandwiches.
At one point I had to transition off of coke, sweet tea, and coffee that was way more sugar and fake sweetened creamer than actual coffee for the obvious reasons. To do so I simply started forcing myself to drink regular coffee and regular teas. For the first few days it was really hard, but after two weeks I never looked back. I rarely drink coffee with anything in it, and never drink sweet tea/soda/sugary drinks. At this point I find most of them to be syrupy and gross. If you can just take it on the chin for a few days it will get easier.
I was an absolute soda addict. Now I can't do it at all. Black coffee is the way to go! I only ever put milk and ice in mine and that's only on hot days. I'm still not big on tea though...
Tried a new concoction that is supposed to help with a metabolism boost. Black coffee + Coconut Oil (about a tablespoon) + Butter (about a teaspoon) Sounds bad, but I blended them in my Nutribullet blender and it came out like a tasty Latte. I've been experimenting with skipping breakfasts and after drinking this I don't get hungry until around noon.
Butter coffee is very good. Also if must have something sweet in your coffee try making your own creamer with coconut milk and agave nectar or raw honey.
The reason to have "bulletproof" coffee is to keep a sugar fast going. I don't do sugar from about 8 PM until about noon or so the next day. So those days I drink my coffee with butter and coconut oil, too.
It's a metabolism manipulation thing. I get emails from a training coach who recommends it. It's the same kind of thing Hugh Jackman does when he is training for Wolverine. He does all his eating between noon and 8pm, and fasts 16 hours a day. At my age, I'm always looking for techniques that will give me a boost.
I didn't know it had a cool name like bulletproof. It does seem to work pretty well for me. I also add a small pinch of good quality salt.
Interesting. I was just wondering. A lot of people choose not to eat breakfast as a diet plan when that's not really all that smart unless you have a coach like you do. A lot of people eat poorly and so decide not to eat breakfast as a way to "diet" when really all it does is encourage their bodies to metabolize those bad foods into fat. You've got a plan though and I like it. Kudos sir.
Just the coffee. Sometimes I'll go as late as 3 before eating or drinking anything other than water and coffee.
There is a good podcast with Shana Alverson discussing intermittent fasting. I think it's called Barbell Shrugged. She's in ketosis most of the time.
I fast twice a month for both spiritual and dietary reasons. I'm curious to read up on it as a daily practice
Is the 8pm-noon fasting an all-or-nothing thing to get the metabolism benefits, or would a teeny tiny amount of sugar in the morning still be relatively no problem? I want a teaspoon of sweetened condensed milk in my coffee at 7am; that's it.
