I wouldn't think its desperation unless we sign him for the max. I also think given his relationship with Kobe, the attitude problems will be ok.

My preference remains to draft Russell and have him and Clarkson be our backcourt of the future. But if we were able to draft one of the big guys or Winslow, I could see Mitch bringing in a guy like Rondo.

 

What happens when Kobe is gone in a year or two and we're left with left with Rondo afterwards? Plus, with Scott's interpersonal skills being average at best in his player relation skills toward players and Rondo's penchant to fuss with coaches at times, do you not think there could be a potential problem with Byron and Rondo given both of their past history?

Rondo doesn't make any sense from both a basketball or relational perspective, IMO. I avoid at all costs no matter what price point he's at if I'm Mitch, IMO...

 

I would expect us to do a deal with at least some kind of option in a couple years. For me, the deal itself really is the key. There is definitely a price point and contract length where I wouldn't want Rondo at all. I can definitely see him bumping heads with Scott.

 

Okay. Rondo is 30 and this is probably going to be his last lucrative contract; in other words, he's going to try to cash out. He wants the best available deal possible, and if I were him I'd want the same thing, too. It makes it even more evident given his injury history. I don't think there's any amount of money and or an argument I could be persuaded into offering Rondo a contract. That's just me, though.

 

Imo there certainly is a deal in which we should take Rondo but I don't see his side negotiating such a deal because he is going for that cushy contract. I wouldn't mind JC going against that guy in practice day in day out. He would've played with Kobe, Nash and Rondo in his first years in the league. Not bad experience. I'd prefer we go in another direction though with a big or another young PG.

N.O. is a big NO for superstars like AD, he should do a Monroe, and flee to a big city and cement his legacy

 

There is always the push/pull of endorsement money. A guy like Davis god from N.O. to a big market like LA, NY, etc and he is going to make a ton of money off the court. But there is always the risk of big injury.

 

If he comes to LA, we're all sportn unibrows.

Far from my top choice, but if we strike out on the FA SFs we like, I'd take him over bringing back Wes for the role.
