Yeah Lillard was just drilling threes in face early in the game. Jordan needs to adjust a little quicker defensively. Stu Lantz was saying after the 2nd three pointer that Clarkson needed to play up on him and force him to drive and he's right. Jordan seemed to be daring him to keep shooting but that's not going to cut it against a really good player.

That being said, nobody is stopping these high level PGs. There's no such thing as a PG stopper in the league anymore with the rules as they are. If Clarkson can battle them evenly, that's a huge achievement in itself.

I would say that about all of them except Lin. Lin since the all-star break has been competing like a mother rhymes with sucker. I really feel bad for Davis unless management told him that'd they'd offer him a 4/20 deal, no questions asked if he just sits back and quietly rides in the back of the tank, sippin' on gin and juice.

:D as if there was any question. Hopefully he's playing for a starting spot, even if he isn't the starter, that edge and that chip will drive him next year.

If they can't keep up and play with the intensity that Clarkson brings, it's on them. Clarkson should never back down. I love his mental make up. Keep killing it.

Byron Scott stopped short of saying the Lakers needed to rebuild aroundJordan Clarkson. It would have been a little extreme to say such a thing despite the season the rookie is having.

But the Lakers coach offered the second-round draft pick quite the compliment Friday, saying the Lakers needed to "add some pieces around him and let's see what happens."

Pretty heady stuff for a player who's started only 32 NBA games, and whose contract expires after next season.

Clarkson was the 46th overall draft pick last June, putting him in a different salary structure than a first-round pick. He has a non-guaranteed contract for next season at the league minimum for a second-year player ($845,059).

Then the Lakers will hold Clarkson's "early Bird" rights, creating a complicated set of scenarios, four in all.

    1) The first is simple, and unlikely. Clarkson could accept the team's qualifying offer of up to $2.7 million for 2016-17 but would be a restricted free agent once again after that season.

    2) The Lakers can re-sign Clarkson via his early Bird rights for up to four years and roughly $25 million. This option could help the Lakers preserve spending power for other free agents, but wouldn't be as lucrative a choice for the player.

    3) Clarkson can be brought back using the Lakers' valuable cap space. A maximum contract for four years could amount to more than $95 million. In this scenario, Clarkson eats up roughly $22 million of the team's spending power in 2016 — instead of the $2.7-million qualifying offer. This path greatly limits the Lakers' flexibility in shopping for other players.

    4) Because of a quirk in the rules, often referred to as the "Gilbert Arenasprovision," other franchises are limited to signing Clarkson as a restricted free agent to a four-year offer sheet as high as $57 million. The limitation on what other teams can offer Clarkson decidedly puts the Lakers in the driver's seat, should re-signing him at a high dollar amount become the priority.

Whatever the decision with Clarkson, the timing is crucial as the franchise looks to re-establish itself as a power in the Western Conference.

just seeing an article about $57m and JC is strange. We're in a good spot if he works himself into that kind of deal. But I mean, we're just now getting used to him being an actual talent and there's this kind of talk already. Caught me by surprise a bit.

Way too early to talk like that. If JC keeps this up he can have a contract like Curry's which is more like 10 million a year.

But that's a long way away.

I agree, but the market will determine his worth, and I am sure some teams would pay him 10+ million next year based on potential alone.

Well, sort of. Individuals have such a massive role to play in determining their "worth." Players take pay cuts, sign deals short of max, value continuity, value rings, value atmosphere. The mere fact that someone might be willing to pay him $10M right now doesn't mean very much in terms of what he ends up doing.

Got his *** kicked by Doc Rivers and the douchebag clan. I could not possibly hate the Clippers any more than I do. They play like ***holes, they act like jerks, and they've done absolutely nothing to earn it. The defense was built to stop Clarkson yesterday and boy did they do it. Better get to that film kid.

Maybe it's not such a bad thing though, he might have just learned very earlier to hate the Clippers. They currently make it their mission to destroy us each time we play, if that's going to change the seeds possibly should be planted now. Hopefully Clarkson is learning Clipper hate and looking to put them back in their rightful place someday.
