Well it’s hard to flourish with Lebron on this team. Both their numbers are down this year. Lebron and Rondo were the two worst players two get on this team for these two dudes. Smh

I wish a reporter would ask Luke during one of these post game news conferences what he plans on doing about FTs. I mean the answer is obvious, but I just want to here it.

I agree that it's going to be an almost impossible adjustment for Lonzo. The game has never seen a traditional PG thrive playing with such a ball-dominant player. And to make matters worse, we have a 2nd ball-dominant player developing in Ingram.

A combination of shooters and athletic wings/bigs are their calling card.

    Magic - Cooper, Worthy, Kareem
    Stockton - Hornacek and Malone
    Early Kidd - R.Jefferson, Kmart
Late Kidd - Terry, Dirk, Chandler
    Nash - J.Johnson, Marion, Stoudemire
    Rondo - R.Allen, Pierce, KG

Lebron makes us better but he will undoubtedly stunt the growth of some of our kids. Rondo, Lonzo, and Lebron all have similar strengths and are redundant together. That's one of the reasons why I was rooting hard for Paulina/Julius this summer. Beggars can't be choosers though. And I'll take Lebron over nothing. Oh well, we'll just have to move on with what we have.

My WMC so far into this short season (it’s a short sample obviously) - it looks like 3 of our best young prospects haven’t added anything new to their games.

Lonzo is still tentative, low usage and a bad shooter.

Kuzma only plays one side of the ball.

Ingram can’t impose himself on a game and dominate on either end.

We’ve managed to snag another generational talent at the end of their prime, but it’s looking like none of our draft picks are good enough to be a running mate to get another championship. We’ve selected well, all of Randle, Clarkson, Russell, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and Ball are good players in this league - but not a single top player among them so far. All we needed was to draft one one of Jokic, KP, Towns, Embiid, Doncic, Tatum, Simmons or Giannis.

My WMC tonight is that we continue to choke away leads in the 4th.

It was especially sad today against a crap team at home. It is simply not acceptable. And LeBronze with a typical choke job at the line and another set of stupid threes. But Luke certainly doesn't have the cojones to sit his butt.

    Free throws.

Someone needs to call the team out about that.

Actually this issue is well known. We were terrible last year and we are terrible this year because everyone we signed is a terrible FT shooter.

Sometimes I can't believe my eyes when I see the box score and the Lakers have converted 47% of their FTs...this isn't just bad, these are negative records for the history books.

If its well known then the team has to work on it. 500 made free throws before you can leave the gym.

If we make the playoffs, we're gonna get swept if we can't make freethrows. How many of our games have been decided by a few points? Our lives would be a lot easier if they just make a handful more freethrows.

^yes. Especially given our shaky shooters, most teams will opt to defend us hard and send us to the line rather than let us shoot.

The problem is that it works every single time. Also I don't think it is a matter of practice.

All these guys convert 80+ % in practice. Even Dwight Howard used to shoot 82% in practice. It is purely mental and we have a lot of midgets.I remember this pic a few years back.

I mean how hard is it for the coaching staff to impose FT drills? I get that shooting FT in the gym is different than shooting FT in games in the sense that you have fans screaming at you and your probably tired from running up and down the court, but this seriously comes down to muscle memory. You do it enough times and those outside influences become less and less relevant.

M33ks and Nash were awesome at hitting those FTs. And Kobe wasn't bad either. I mean, well over 80% in games? I'll take that.

Free throws are mental. The game stops. All eyes are on you. They are supposed to be automatic. Everyone says Shaq used to hit them at 80 or 90% in practice. Look at the picture KB24 posted. Howard shot 82% in practice and shot more free throws than anyone in practice. As troubling as our offensive execution late in games has been (iso fever), free throws can't really be blamed on the coaching staff. They can tell them to shoot 500 free throws in practice. They do it and hit 80%. Then they go out and clank two in pressure situations.

    My WMC?

Fans are excited about what we're seeing? Really? I signed off early last night, and completely forgot about the unmemorable game going on. With signing the legend Lebron James, you'd think we'd be blowing out the powerhouse Hawks. Instead, it took a last second miracle block on a floater from Chandler to hold onto a 1 point game.

Yes, it's a victory, and we're playing better defense, but overall, this is just unwatchable basketball.

Free throws are the great identifier of pressure.

Nor should he. You just don't bench a LeBron, Kobe, MJ, Magic, etc. no matter if they are struggling or not.

You have not been watching the games if your conclusion is that Lonzo is a bad shooter. 2/3 from three last night. 3/3 from three a couple of games ago. He is a streak shooter, but he is not a bad shooter. It's pretty obvious.

These games are just not fun to watch. No matter how large of a lead we have, you know it’s going to dwindle down to nothing.
We can’t keep doing this. Every team knows we will let them back in.

We need to hire a Sports psychologist. The missed free throws are mental and it’s frightening how weak minded some of our players are. This will continue to cost us games if we can’t at least make inroads on free throws.

We should simulate in game situations at the practice facility then. Hire crowds to shout expletives at them while they are shooting free throws. Hell, I would do it for free just to vent at the piss poor performance we have to witness out there.

41/36/62 splits, and he's being left wide open from pretty much all spots on the floor. he's a bad shooter.

amen. lonzo needs it bad, but so does BI. and actually, maybe lebron.

another reason chandler's presence is helpful: he's a model of mental toughness.
