imo, teams are getting wiser about the promise of protected 1sts. nobody's going to give you a bkn deal anymore, so any pick you get is likely to be lower than top 5, and the expected value of those picks are lower than the current production of guys like saric and covington. i'd take that deal over others i've seen rumored. add fultz, and that was the deal i thought SA should have taken for leonard.

decided to look up the lineups

It appears that Philly has a serious problem with front court depth.
Minny also will have to cut someone with 16 roster players under contract. Someone is getting Deng'd probably.
Minny just added guys it doesn't seem like they need. I bet more trades are coming, but 3 teams trades are harder to pull off.
Minny might be deciding to overhaul their roster, who knows?

I realize those depth charts are pretty much crap, but I don't know their rosters that well.

@tada I didn't like that we lost him for nothing either, but this is how much NOP valued him...

Then of course consider a trade this summer where they could have acquired Jule's bird rights so that they don't need to clear cap next summer to give him more money (think Rondo, Ajinca, 2nd pick for a extend & trade Randle)... And they still didn't choose that route.

It's becoming clear that NOP valued Jules at a certain price point (not his max) and Jules/Mintz just didn't want to break bread with us no matter how much money we threw at him on a 1yr deal. NOP signed Jules and they still are bringing him off the bench at 26mins per, so are they doing him dirty like we did?

BK traded for DLo and clearly wanted him by taking on that Mozbatross contract. Yet they didn't extend dude to maximize their cap dollar for 2max next summer. Again, that's no different than what we tried to do this last summer. Did we do DLo dirty?

LA was without Kobe and thirstin for a star. So why is it bad form for Magic/Pelinka to inherit DLo/Jules and not envision them as part of their future team? The onus is on DLo/Jules to prove that they belong...one destroyed team chemistry while the other admitted that he needed to be more coachable... and each respective team that wanted those two has done the same things we did, but the only difference is that the current Lakers FO inherited those dudes but BK/NOP targeted those dudes.

I respectfully disagree that we did them dirty. We actually gave Mintz what he wanted and they still couldn't secure the bag with their new teams. That's good business on our part and well we know how Mintz does business, so thank goodness we don't have to deal with that BS any more. Think of this... Pelinka use to represent Ariza, but now Mintz does. Yet we targeted Rondo/Beas instead of Ariza...why is that? Be gone Mintz! We done with you!

Butler just traded KAT and his supposed lack of seriousness for Joel Embiid who is even less serious.

Difference is Embiid is basically averaging 29/13/3.5, for those kind of numbers you might forgive some immaturity. Last night he had 42 & 18.

Double yikes after my Butler to Philly's roster yikes earlier this morning. Didn't realize Embiid's been killing it like that. Which sucks.

Sixers just lost a lot of outside shooting tbh. I love what Butler brings, but Covington and Saric spread the floor for them well.

It’ll be interesting to see how Simmons works with Butler off ball as well.

I don't like this trade for Philly, Covington and Saric combined are better than Butler imo. I've seen games where Covington hit like 6 threes in a row, the guy is a great 3 and d guy which fits well with Simmons. Butler is more iso

That’s why I see more trades coming. Philly is light on shooting, but now Saric plays the same position as one of their top players.

If the deal ends up being

    1 starter
    1 backup
    1 scrub

For Butler, then they didn’t do so well.
If they got two starters for 1, and then flip one of their assets for more, then I get it. Would you rather have Saric or Wiggins?

I disagree. I think it's a sensible trade on both sides. I don't think either is a better shooter than butler; people just leave those guys open.

Well this trade would be bad if Butler doesn't resign with them next year. Just lost 2 starters that still have potential to be even better next year etc. And Covington definitely takes tough 3 point shots and nails them. Saric is still young and getting better can play sf or pf and please reasonable defense. All this for a potential rental that wants to play in NY or clippers

Yes, if they lose Butler, the process reboots lol

but if Fultz blossoms and they can add more shooting and depth, they have potential to be a great team.

@vasashi17 We can agree to disagree at this point, but....

....I never brought up Julius in Lakers Discussion. You brought him up in this thread and the Rondo thread.

Just wanted to clear that up.
