@RandleROFY brought this up in the Tank Thread. I hesitated to post it because there's been no official word from the Lakers.
From his twitter Guess we're waiting on the hardship exception to go through for Ellington before it's official.
The Lakers are waiting to get a hardship exception approved by the NBA - in order to add another player Per Pincus.
I remember the name but that's about it. After a quick google search, he was the talk of summer league in 2013 and was the MVP in the France league he was in a couple years back. Known as a scoring PG with good size (6-3), a good stroke and body control. He's improved as a playmaker over the past few years, but doesn't appear to be his strong suit. Smart, tough, works hard on D. If Mitch and co. saw something in him, I'm not doubting them, they're batting average right now is quite impressive. and here against NBA talent
@RandleROFY Probably, but did you think Brown would get a contract (even if it isn't guaranteed) for next season before we signed him to his 10 day?
i saw him in summer league a couple years ago and have been surprised not to see him get backup minutes in the nba. i guess we'll get a look now.
Still seems strange to me that he gets the call instead of Franklin. I'm assuming that means Ellington is done for the year.
I'm on a phone help me out LOL what the hell has happened to Duke now? Or are the Lakers finally "blowing up" as tankers in crunch time?
Ellington hurt his shoulder last night in a run in with Toney Douglas. It's unclear the amount of damage he sustained, but I'm thinking the Lakers likely sit him and bring in some random kid like this.
Before the draft, Brown was some people's boards as an end of the 2nd round guy; he looked promising in the preseason, improved as he went through the D-league, and caught the attention of our FO; ultimately, he signed and proved he was worthy of an NBA spot. Is it the same for Dwight? He's 26, bounced around leagues on both the international and NBA level and still hasn't found a spot, yet, which at his age isn't very promising too me. I could see what @Real Deal said; Ellington suffered a sprain and considering our situation, the Lakers brought in a guy they could evaluate more closely. Could he stick? Maybe. Personally, I don't think so. Not only would he be brought in to replace Ellington, he'd be brought in to decrease Lin's minutes; at least that's my hope. I still think it's more of a tanking strategy...
I spent my office hours today looking at video of him and checking out his stats from NCAA, D-league, Euro, and NBA. That's a composite of his stats per 36 minutes. 14.8 points 3.2 assists 4.7 rebounds 1.9 steals 46.3% FGS 36.9% 3pts 72.8% FT He has a quick first step and decent handles. He has also done a nice job on the glass. If there's anyone on our team he's like it's a skill set like Wayne Ellington. I don't think he's a bad addition, honestly.
@Real Deal called it Mike Bresnahan ✔ @Mike_Bresnahan Wayne Ellington will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder separation. Another Laker down..
Sorry for Wayne...but good for the tank. He can get hot and keep us in games. We are honestly getting close to the point where I've seen enough and Clarkson and would like to see his minutes reduced. I'd rather see less of Clarkson now so we can see more ally oops to Towns later.
