I think they plan on starting both, if Jennings is able to come back. That's the type of injury, even at his age, that can change you career permanently.

I don't mind that team. I would rather we take WCS at 5 and spend our FA money on one of the RFA 3 'n D sfs. But your plan leaves less to chance.

BTW RealDeal, seeing you type this made me so very happy.

"Clarkson is definitely making me reconsider my position on Rondo/Dragic/whomever at the PG spot."

I'm not off the bandwagon just yet!

I just think we maaaaaaaaaay get away with him there while we tend to more urgent needs. At least I hope.

Real, basically said my opinion of him in his own words: He can be a headcase and is too inconsistent for my liking especially with how much money we'd have to throw his way.

In that range of 25-35 (the likely spots LA has two draft picks in), you have UW's Robert Upshaw who's a shot blocking machine. You also have LSU's Jarrell Martin who's a solid, strong athlete with a vary of offensive moves. Cliff Alexander, who's draft stock took a tumble this year (from a top-10 guy to a fringe first rounder), could also be there. Montrezl Harrell is another high energy big who also might be there. And while I think Trey Lyles is gone by the time the Lakers pick, there is the possibility of him slipping in the draft.

Other potential prospects include Dakari Johnson, Kennedy Meeks, Brice Johnson. Rakeem Christmas and Brandon Ashley might be guys the Lakers take with the Clippers 2nd round pick (if it transfers).

Part of the whole article on why we shouldn't re-sign Ed Davis.

Upshaw is a huge head case though. Been kicked out of two different schools, has never had consistent effort, and doesn't have much offense to speak of.

Nope. They mentioned other potential centers, though. I wouldn't take a flyer on Upshaw if you put a gun to my head. He's a nut.

In fact all the guys listed there project to be PFs at the next level and we've got a bunch already. Davis is more of a Center anyway.

^That he is...I'm kind of tired of 4/5 hybrid, too. I do like Ed, though. I'd keep him under the right conditions. I could see the point of going in a different direction, though.

Well sure if we end up drafting a guy who will be cheaper, we've only got so much cash this summer.

Ed really DOES want to be here though, he's made that clear. If he's willing to come cheaply enough, I'm on board.

I just don't see Ed getting over 7 a year. Has he been good? Yeah. But are teams really looking to spend 8-10 million on a 3rd or 4th big in the rotation?

How great would it be if Ed accepted his option so he could get paid big time the next summer when the cap blows up?

Yes. He's one of those guys that will get a reaction like this, 'wow he got this for that much!,' and a lot of guys we'll be following suite because of the salary camp increase.

Read an article today, might be the one linked above...not clicking it again, and it suggested Ed will probably get around 5m this summer. No sources or facts backing that claim, but it doesn't sound far fetched to me based on his season. Should we pay it? Depends what our depth chart looks like and how the draft shakes out. If Hill isn't gone, then no way.

If we keep Hill at 9 million something is wrong.

I pay for Ed. He's been consistent, he's been a baller, and he's said he really wants to be here. He's been arguably our best player at times. I'd give him the Swaggy contract as long as we draft a guard/wing.

Kevin Durant made some of his strongest comments yet about his future free agency, going as far to say he wants to have his jersey retired in Oklahoma City.

"I love it here, man. I love my teammates, I love the city, I don't really think about anywhere else," Durant told Revolt TV in a recent interview. "I hear it all the time, don't get me wrong, and once you hear it you're kind of like [looks up, thinking]. But for me, I love staying in the moment, and I'm one of those guys that would love to stick it out with one team my whole career.
"Kobe [Bryant], Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki type. That's awesome," he said. "But you never know what the future holds sometimes and how teams may feel about you after a while, but I love it here and I would love to get my jersey retired here."
