Yeah I mean we tried to lose those games and couldn't... I wonder if we'll see people genuinely on the court trying to lose. I haven't seen it yet, but that's got to be where they're headed right?

That's a little too early for me man. At 3-13 maybe Mitch waves a wand and we get a dude and make a run at 8th seed. Any wins in the new year are the ones that probably nailed the coffin shut.

And maybe the point is that coming out of the gate Philly and NY were trying to tank and that's why we can't catch them. Minny is just THAT good at tanking at this point.

No, like you gave me the % chance that we stay in the top 5 with our pick if we finish with 4th worst record ..... what does that % drop to when we finish in the 5 spot? Or what are the odds we get bumped out. Either %. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

In the 5th spot we're far more likely to lose the pick.

    Keep the pick: 55.3%
    Land at #6 pick: 36%

Land out of the top 5 picks, wherever, then is 44.7% chance of happening. Ugggghhhhh. The only thing we hope for is Karma for actually hating tanking as a franchise and the screw job David Stern laid on us with the Paul trade dirty bomb.

Can't do much more. I honestly don't care at this point. Whatever. I just want this season to end...so done with it.

The Lakers would never admit it publicly, but their 113-111 overtime victory Monday over the Sixers probably cost them something on lottery night.

With another win, the Lakers move another game closer to potentially losing their Top 5 pick. Lakers are now only just 2 wins ahead of Orlando for the 4th spot in the lottery.

The Sixers will get the Lakers' first-round pick in the draft if Los Angeles finishes outside of the Top 5 in the lottery. The chances are slim, although Monday's result makes it slightly more likely.

The Lakers' lottery-laden fans might say otherwise. But Coach Byron Scott would gladly debate them.

"I don't care about the lottery, I don't care about that stuff," Scott said after the win. "It's all about trying to get better as a team and trying to keep winning games."

"Whatever happens, happens. I can't control that."

I know most of the board will be mad at statements like these, but honestly, I'm with Byron on this one. I'm so sick of losing. I don't give a shi**. How long has Philadelphia been tanking and we still beat them with our s***te* roster that we could have on the floor. Sure, we could have adopted a strategy earlier, we should have sat Davis, Lin weeks ago, we would have Clarkson, Randle, Top 5 pick, under 10 million dollars which is a huge coup. I get it all, and I've heard every argument, but really at this point, screw it. If we end up 4, 5, 6, 7, I DON'T CARE. Go Clarkson, Brown, Black, Kelly, and play your freaking asse* off...just so sick and tired of this crap.

With under ten games left I don't want them to lose their position at #4, but there's seriously nothing else we can do. What do you want the Lakers to do? Forfeit games ahead of time? Call in sick?

We're sitting half our decent players, we're playing young guys, we're doing everything in our power to keep that pick. I don't know what else to ask. Now it's just up to fate or chance or whatever. We can't do any more than we're doing now.

Well, I'm part of the board that thinks that is ridiculous.

"Whatever happens, happens. I can't control that."

That means Scott is functionally r******* and doesn't understand simple probabilities and statistics. You may not be able to control the ping pong balls directly, but you can control your odds. I mean, if the Lakers are up with a few seconds left and have the ball, do you throw the ball in to Ed Davis (50% FT) or Ryan Kelly (85% FT)?

That being said, he did everything he could to lose yesterday's game short of pulling Clarkson. What worries me is by making comments like that, it sort of coincides with his utter lack of stupidity as it pertains to using analytics. I'm not a huge analytics guy where all decisions should be made based solely on numbers, but to completely disregard them shows a backwards, neanderthal coaching acumen.

I get it. I choose not too worry about it. As for Scott, I don't like his coaching as much as the next person, but he's family. So, while I don't like certain members of my family, I do love them and will put up with them because their family. Same with Scott; A Lakers great, a guy I truly admire as a player, but as a coach, I'll deal with in the interim while we go through the process of rebuilding.

I am torn on whether to believe Byron. If those are his honest to god thoughts, THIS season in our predicament, then I am PISSED. But the other side of my observations says it is not the truth and he is towing the necessary company line. From seeing the lineups, etc.

But if the 2nd scenario is true, I also believe he was pig headed about that reality of this lost season and the necessity of keeping that pick for way too effing long. And yeah you inbound the ball to Davis rather than Kelly, metaphorically speaking. Every little decision counts when certainly no tanking coach is telling his players to tank.

Ain't going to be no tie. Especially if we win 3 or 4 more games. Stop at 2 wins and there is a chance, so someone else can jump in with the stats. Orlando is hard core and likely will lose out, maybe win 1. Then I guess 3 wins would tie us.

man, if karma exists, the lakers will get the number 1 pick and philly will get knocked down to six. if my suspicions are correct, and the devil has taken control of the nba, the sixers will win the lotto and get the lakers' sixth pick.

What's hilarious is you said weaselly and sleazy midget and I started thinking of someone to play that role. I momentarily forgot who I was comparing to and thought of David Stern as the comparison, but he was the original subject.
