We hammer their bullpen pitching game early it can pretty much destroy them for a long series. We just need to hit the ball especially with RISP. Capitalizing on those opportunities is critical. Score some runs for Kershaw!
This game is becoming a mess. Kersh gives up a HR to their reliever. It's been a very embarrassing performance from Grandal with passed balls and catcher's interference nullifying Freese's awesome catch. Should be tied right now but we're only one run down with a lot of game left. I don't think Kersh is going to go more deep into this game, so we'll see if the bullpen can match the Brewers bullpen. Edit: There goes Kersh, couldn't get out of the 4th inning. He didn't have it today, looked like the end of the regular season performances he had vs. the Giants and D-Backs.
Awful game out of the team. Bad at-bats. Awful pitching from Kershaw. Error ridden bull**** defense. Completely embarrassing thus far. Hopefully they figure this out because they're going to lose this series in 4 games playing f***ing awful like this.
Down 5-1, they have to adjust their approach and get base runners on. Swinging for the fences (esp vs. Hader) is handing them the game. Kemp, Bellinger, and Grandal have been automatic outs.
Wow, Josh Hader is special, he literally blew away Turner on 3 fastballs. The hitters look clueless on how to deal with his pitches.
Wow, almost had a comeback for the ages! Glad to see the team rally and fight back, especially after committing 4 errors and 2 passed balls. Their bullpen, outside of Hader, look hittable. I have hope that they will wear out if this series goes long. Shocked to see Turner chasing those high fastballs, he had probably the worst game I've seen him play. It didn't help that the umpire had such a wide zone going away from Turner (and just bad calls in general). Things I'd like to see: 1) Doc should just go with the best player for that position since they keep changing pitchers over and over. I don't it's fair for Freese to be burned after only get 1 AB when starting. We could have used Freese later in the game when Puig was hitting in the 8th with men on 1st and 3rd. 2) Start Puig/Joc/Kemp over Bellinger, he's been hitless in 5 playoff games so far. 3) I'd give Barnes a shot after seeing that disaster from Yasmani.
I'll give Yasmani one bounce back game. I agree completely on Freese. I also agree on Bellinger. He's had a couple solid swings, but for the most part he's just been garbage at the plate. He's a wasted bat right now. Second post season in a row where he's looked completely out matched.
True lol. But Bellinger swing is an upright swing and has a small area for contact, and pitchers have the scouting report on him now after his rookie year. He’s got the power, but he needs to start thinking about opening up his swing more.
I don't disagree. He tends to go into these funks even during the regular season, this is just really, really bad timing. I don't mind sitting him though. He and Grandal need to just take a deep breath and relax. Grandal especially last night was a huge headcase. Passed ball, passed ball, interference, error on a throw, strike out, strike out, strike out. Just awful.
