I just like that he's getting some reps against starters in his first year. I'm not as bullish on him as some (he's not a star in the making), but that doesn't mean the lakers FO didn't absolutely crush that pick/purchase. he belongs. it's just a matter of if he's a dynamic oversized pg or a good bench scoring undersized combo g. the latter is more likely, and again, still a big win.

I try not to get too excited over him, but he could be a star in the making. But I guess that all depends on the definition of a star. Some people define stars as Kobe, Lebron, Duncan, The Brow. Other will throw the star label on Kyle Lowry level players. Is he the next Kobe? No way. Can he be a middle-class man's Brandon Roy? Yes. Is that a star? To some people it probably would be. To other's it wouldn't. I will be ecstatic if he ends up a Laker for the next decade as either of the two descriptions you provided above. I think based on his talent level and athleticism he could be the third or fourth best player on a title team a few years down the line.

I don't really want to be on this side of the argument, as Clarkson is the lone bright spot of the season (unless you count black, who's a backup at best)...but he's going to have to find another gear quickly if he's going to be any man's Brandon Roy. he doesn't have that strong build, and he doesn't have the freakish athleticism that guys with his slighter build need to be stars (like westbrook). he's more of a jamal Crawford type in terms of athleticism and skill set. this is great for a 46th pick, but I just don't think you can bank on him being a top 3-4 player on a title team.

i'll be super pumped to be proven wrong on this one, though.

I think he's definitely more athletic than Crawford... probably more athletic than Roy... I'd compare him to probably Monta Ellis.

I see him as Kevin Martin pre-injury with a bit more playmaking via Nash's coaching

Speaking of Nash, anyone else notice how often Clarkson keeps his dribble alive, and head up like Nash when dribbling exploring his options in the paint? I'm loving seeing that part of Nash's game is rubbing off.

He's more physical than K. Martin and to me looks like a more well well rounded player (in the making) . I always liked him though.
I don't know. I could see him starting on a title team. Too early to tell, but he's definitely not as good as he's going to be and he's physical. I keep waiting for him to look convincingly over matched and have one of those games where you say... Oh... Ok...that's where he's too weak. But not yet. Gotta wait till we really start competing and games count again. When defenses really try to shut him down. Might not see that for a while. Anyway just my opinion.

He is great, but right now its really easy for him. you can see Scott gave him a green light to do whatever he wants.
Sometimes he playmakes like Kobe, which is good and bad. it's good because you can see that all he needs is one pick and roll to score or find other's open shot. but it's bad because right now he is too reliable on his quickness and dribble.
I didn't see him running a normal offence. sometimes after 3 passes between players he just
stops, the defence gets set, and then he attacks instead of continuing moving the ball.

Right now he plays to show everyone what they missed. But it's his first season.
Next year with different expactations it will be a whole new game.

definitely more athletic than 34 year old crawford? maybe. not young crawford, though. i think actually less athletic. i think we're entering brake-tapping territory with our prized rookie. i think it's just been so long since the lakers have a had a really interesting young player getting time that we forget that every bad team has guys like this who put up some numbers when given the chance.

if the lakers were trying to win games right now and jordan clarkson wasn't a rookie second rounder but a veteran FA acquisition, i think people would be calling for lin to get his minutes.

I think he's within the realm of a younger Crawford. They've got pretty similar body types actually. Jordan is a little shorter, but he's a little bigger too.

I think you're trying to sell him short because so many people are exaggerating. I don't think I'm exaggerating in a Jamal Crawford comparison though. Crawford was definitely better when he was younger, but physically I think they profile very similarly. Crawford was (and still is) one of the most natural scorers in the world. I'm not saying Clarkson is as good as him, but physically I think they're built in the same general mold.

The Monta Ellis comparison is actually pretty spot on, not so much the Crawford.

Guys like Ellis and Kevin Martin were also really good shooters. Jordan's shot isn't quite at that level yet, but he has a good foundation.

The Ellis comparison is accurate, IMO. However, early in Ellis' career I don't remember witnessing the playmaking ability that Clarkson has displayed? I seen great scoring outbursts in his GS days, and he has averaged about 3.6 assists his career, but I've seen more from Clarkson in that regard that I ever seen in a young Ellis. Although, he has improved in Dallas; but an Ellis is a damn good basketball player, and if we got to see that out of Clarkson with better playmaking, we scored in a big, big way in last years draft...

All 3 players' stats are so similar, I don't think there is a clear "winner".

Player C has the best shooting splits, assists and rebound average.

Players A and B are so similar to each other, I don't think you can say one is better.

I'll go with C since the biggest difference between the 3 is mpg and Player C leads the most categories in less time.

    I go with C because I know it's Jordan Clarkson, and I know he's only making 800k a year. :p

Wo... How does a guy drafted in the 2nd round make 800k his first year? That seems absurd to me. No knock on JC here.
