They did a terrible job of showing it for 1 quarter where they went ice cold. I've been keeping up with them and they have been trying harder recent than in times past; Lin just got ridiculously hot, Davis had a great game, and those two spearheaded the blowout in the 4th quarter. Also, the reason they could have looked better and or more competitive recently than what they are is because they've been playing in the Eastern Conference, IMO. Plus, Nerlens has been killing it... Either way, I don't care about the winning; 3rd would be nice but 4th is probably more realistic at this point in the season...
Nice to see MIN get the win...man if we had found a way to lose last night we would have a legit shot at 2nd and having a guarantee on keeping our pick.
No we were taking a look at this Lin kid we're interested in for 30 minutes while he was hot and shooting us to the win in the 2nd half. Lakers don't do that stuff anyway. All said in good fun ...... c'mon now. Unless the pick gets lost and then Mt. Lakersball will ERUPT.
There just doesn't need to be contention at all between the two different opinions. Even the people (like myself) who are not excited about tanking understand the need for more losses. I'm just not going to beat myself or the organization or the players/coaches up for beating a horrible team. I mean really it wasn't too long ago we would be mad if the Lakers lost to LeBron or weren't focused during a playoff run. THOSE are games to be upset about. This? This is pathetic. I hate it. I hate the losing. I'm not going to begrudge any of the players or coaches for beating what is honestly the most pathetic franchise in American sports right now. More people should be outraged at what the Sixers are doing and have been doing for years. Tanking is necessary for us only because of the protections on the pick. God willing I'll never have to sit through a season where we're hoping for losses so that we finish in the BOTTOM FIVE of the league... This is a nightmare. Yet this is a nightmare that the Sixers are perpetuating and exaggerating. They are the worst franchise in sports and beating them brings me joy. I hope the NBA takes their picks away or something although I know that won't happen.
I do hate tanking. And going into the season we were obviously not thinking of keeping that pick. We trotted out Lin, Boozer, Hill, Swaggy P and Kobe. Honestly, even in the loaded West, that's a mid-thirties win team. But once it was evident things were going to hell, there shouldn't be any tight rope walking. Just accept it and do anything you can to prepare for next year. It's like retreat in war. If the battle is over and the only thing you would accomplish by staying on the battlefield is the annihilation of your forces, you retreat. There's no reason to just let everyone die for pride.
To play off of your (seemingly frequent?) life and death analogy: I'm not against retreating. That doesn't mean we turn tail and flee though. It means you leave in an organized way, taking shots at the opposition to keep them at bay. I'm not going to flee from battle. I still want my soldiers there fighting, albeit smartly as we exit the battlefield.
I think we all totally understand and respect that position and the right historical place it's coming from with regard to the Lakers. The light at the end of this nightmare is if we get to keep our top 5 pick. So surely and you have said as much, you well understand the tension about it from others.
Oh I do. Just trying to bring the other side of the coin with us. Someone's got to be the other voices right? We've got calm and we've got edgy. I'm trying to be the calm, you keep bringing the edgy! We'll drive each other crazy for these last 15 games or whatever it is.
That's why I was offering the beers. To take the edgy or contention out of it. It's 5:00 somewhere.......
These are sad, strange times indeed. My only comfort is that we've had it so good for so long that I can't truly get too down about a couple of bad seasons. Some teams have never won a single title, and they still have no light in sight, no view of getting out of the middle of the pack at all. I have faith we'll at least be back in the playoffs again very soon, if we can keep that pick. I can't wait for this season to be over though, I'm not enjoying the games at all.
I've been meaning to find a new one, had it too long. It's Hayley Williams of Paramore, she's a singer, holding a microphone wrapped in like orange tape, which she does for some reason. I like the face she makes at that point of the concert, a sly smile, so I used it for my pic.
Mike Trudell @LakersReporter · 6m 6 minutes ago Don't be surprised if Carlos Boozer doesn't play tonight or for the next few games. LAL looking at some younger players. Mike Trudell @LakersReporter · 5m 5 minutes ago And with Ryan Kelly playing the 4, that leaves fewer minutes for the other bigs (Davis, Hill, Sacre). Expect Hill to rest more too.
Why just Boozer though? That logic should apply to everyone on the roster, including Lin. They're not a player you're trying to develop and you know exactly what they bring. You're not going to unearth anything new about them.
The only logical explanation it's that they're trying to see what Lin's worth because they might want to keep him. I hate this thought!
