Have you watched Melo the last year or so? Dude shoots nothing but jab step, consisted shots.

    No thanks!

My guess is OKC buys out Melo and he joins the ring chasing wagon at GSW for the vet minimum.

I go to the gym and we're talking about Dwight Howard? What happened in here?? :D

There's zero chance Jeanie Buss, daughter of Dr. Buss, is going to take Dwight back after the way he left. No chance. I dont care how talented the guy is, he is getting cut from Brooklyn in favor of Jarrett Allen.

Yeah, we aren’t signing Dwight. Guy is a locker room cancer, and his offensive game is exactly as polished as it was when he left here. He has about as many moves as Tristan Thompson, I’d prefer a center with some actual skills and that can hit threes next to LeBron, like Brook Lopez.

Why is everyone so high on Brook Lopez?

He grabbed 4 boards a game last year playing center, while shooting 35% from 3. Rondo, at 33%, was not even that much worse. KCP, who was also very streaky, shoots 38% from out there.

We need rim protection, rebounding, and defense. With Hart, KCP, Leonard/Ingram, Kuzma, Wagner, and possibly Ball (if he improves), we will have enough shooting. Hell James is also not that bad from outside.

McGee can give what Howard’s brings already, and he actually competes unlike some other clown.

Lopez was one of the best rim protectors in the league last season and is probably the most talented Center left on the market that we could have a chance to afford. Last year Brook was 13th in blocks per game while only playing 23.4 minutes per game. He was 17th in total blocks, again while playing limited minutes.

Also, there were only two Centers last year that took 300 threes and shot over 34%. One was Brook Lopez and one was Marc Gasol. That percentage might not sound great, but it's very solid for a big man.

Would you really trust McGee as your starting center for 82 games? GS barely gave him more than 19 mins a game.

Well we need a big who can stretch the floor, Javale and Zubac, though I like them, can't shoot 3s, which is what LBJ needs around him. That's also why the FO went for Mo Wagner. We need more shooters.

I can't believe I just went through a page considering signing Dwight. WTF.

I'd take Robert freaking Sacre back before Dwight.

Curious as to what might be taking so long to bring Brook back? Lakers actually need him now.

I would have to disagree with you on Lopez being a good rim protector. I didn't see it this season, or at all during his career. I don't trust defensive stats for these sorts of things. I just did a detailed analysis of player's rim protection within 6 ft of the paint, and Pau Gasol ranked better than Embiid in DFG%.

Wagner is fine for this. If we want to go small, play LeBron at the 5 and Leonard at the 4. Kuzma is also available. But you are not going to beat the Warriors by trying to out shoot them. The Rockets and Cavs tried this, the former of which missed 27 straight in a game 7. Instead we want to play defense and rebound hard. We also should take a page out of the 2004 Pistons handbook and aggressively play passing lanes, especially because GSW tends to be very turnover prone in their offense.

All of this. Lopez isn’t an all-star anymore, but for what we’d likely have to pay him he’d be a bargain. It’s also not Brook in a vacuum, it’s him next to Zo, KCP, Ingram, and LeBron. Lopez stretches the floor, he’s a really good passer, he fits with those players well.

Wagner is not ready for this. Great kid, but he is not a 5 in this league yet, he will get beat up and pushed around. He’s not a starter either, and neither is McGee unless he’s surrounded by Curry, Klay, Durant, and Green. Lopez for me is an absolute must re-sign. This team needs a true big man in the middle, rebounds will not be an issue, Zo averaged 7, LeBron averaged 9, and BI and KCP each averaged 5. Shooting, passing, interior scoring, blocking shots, we need this from Brook. And this is coming from one of his harshest critics from last season.

I'm not saying we need shooters so that we can go toe to toe with GS in a shootout, we need them just because we were a horrible from 3 last year and in order to maximize Lebron's greatness and our playoff run.

At this point no one is beating GS, at least not for the next year or so, barring injuries to 1 or more of their big 4...err big 5.
