OK so we agree that the talent pool is better in the NCAA if we remove the foreign players from the CBA, yes?

FACT: The bottom 80% of NCAA is better than bottom 80% of CBA.

OK so let me phrase it this way.

We can agree that a handful of NCAA players immediately improve any NBA team every year, yes? Could you say the same about the CBA? Would Marbury improve our team?

The fact remains that the best players in the CBA were dismissed from the NBA teams as scrubs, (or a headache - Beasley) whereas the best collegiate players are immediate NBA talent but forced to play in the NCAA only because of the age restriction.

The fact remains that NBA rejects are still NBA players. Not to mention the ones you picked were stars at some point in their lives.

The best NCAA players are often busts, have short lived careers, and never live up to the hype of their college success. That's the truth. You're still vastly overrated the NCAA and still somewhat underrating the talent of NBA players. The vast majority of college athletes are not nearly as good as NBA players and thus not nearly as good as those two international players allowed on a CBA team. The vast majority of NCAA players are not even as good as Will Bynum.

So for me, it seems strange you'd judge Russell positively against his competition, but then say Mudiay is facing crap competition. That still doesn't make sense to me.

Yes there are plenty of busts but AT LEAST a HANDFUL become stars or solid role players. NO current player from the CBA can impact a NBA team. There is no one equivalent to a Okafor or Towns in the CBA. As a matter of fact, there is no one close to Clarkson either.

I am not judging Russell positively against his competition. I am judging him neutrally, just like any of the other college prospects. Mudiay, on the other hand, can't be compared on level ground. There is less exposure and less scouting in the CBA. And many people perceive the CBA to have a lesser competition. I am not going to judge his decision to play in China, but he knew exactly what the consequences were.

That's a link to all players that play in the CBA. Not all but most of the guys that are listed from the United States have been later first/second round picks or undrafted coming out of college; so, that means they weren't even highly touted coming out of the NCAA or else they would have been drafted higher. I haven't heard from a lot of these guys...

Actually I think there are people in the CBA who are as good as the current versions of Towns and Okafor and Russell. They're rookies. They're not going to maximize their potential right now. If they played in the CBA they'd be having similar success to Mudiay, of that I have no doubt. I'm ready to stop the debate though. I'm not going to change your mind at this point and it's nearly Friday night. I don't want to continue the conversation anymore.

Re: the consequences of Mudiay going to China... What consequences? He's going to be a Top 5 pick this summer despite not being in what you think is the superior NCAA. He went, got paid, and still will get a great contract from the NBA.

Drafted into the NBA= top 60 players in the world which includes the NCAA.

The rest of the 60= every other player in the world + what's left of a LOT of NCAA athletes. That's been my point all along.

Your argument holds no weight; look at the players. They couldn't cut it in the NCAA. Thus they're undrafted or late round picks

My argument cannot possibly be that hard to understand.

The top levels of the CBA are the rejects of the NBA. HOWEVER the rejects of the NBA are better than 90% of NCAA athletes because most of those players don't make it to the NBA. Mudiay playing against Marbury is viewed as some crap competition, but Russell crossing up a nameless face from some random school is fantastic.

Is that not a double standard?

No. The competition Russell is facing is better than the competition in the CBA. Plus, he's dominating the competition at the NCAA level. Now, the NBA rejects are better than those of NCAA athletes? So, your Acie Law, Quincy Douby, Charles Gaines, and Jonathan Gibson, who were undrafted or drafted late in the first or second round are better? Ok.

Wisconsin and Dekker playing right now, he has a layup and a 3, looks solid so far. They are playing a very undersized team though, but on the defensive end that is actually interesting, he's keeping up with some quick players.

Nigel Hayes reminds me of Metta.

That size, strength, finishing in the paint, the improved jumper. He chases down rebounds, gots his hands everywhere defensively.

Than the guys he's playing against? Yep. Can you name and describe the guy he crossed up in that video? Could you do it before the tournament? is that guy going to play a single second in the NBA?

Seriously I'm done with this. If you don't want to acknowledge Mudiay's potential that's fine. We'll see in a few months which prospect is the better NBA player.

    I like Deeker
I couldn't. But it's better than crossing up Marbury. Actually, not the better prospect, Real; the better player in about 2 years or so...:).

Yeah, I've been chirping his name all year.

Such a skilled big man. Post skills, range, IQ.

You're right. He's going going top 5, though. Also, he won't be there with our Houston pick; so unless we nab him in an attempt to move up, I don't see him being available to us. I'd love it, though if it did happen.

Every game I see him play he is outstanding. His knock is he is not athletic enough, and looking at him I see why. Then you see him play the game...how many seven footers do a cross over from the corner for a dunk? He kills the 3 , has better post moves than Okafur, great on FTs, and is a great ball handler and passer.Yeah he's going to be 24, wish I was..lol. Some guys are just basketball players, Bird, Magic, Pau....and excel because of that.

Today Kaminsky is a 10th pick on Draft Express. What if he leads Wisconsin to the Final 4 or better? Is he a guy anyone thinks the Lakers should consider picking with their top 5 pick? What If?
