Obviously if he's interested in joining a playoff team we're not in the picture, but would anyone else be for signing McGee if we have the chance? The last time he got over 25MPG he averaged 11.9/8.8 with 2.5 blocks. He's not good enough to help us win more games with the current team, but if he enjoys his time here, it could give us the inside track on signing a rim protector next to Randle for cheap this summer. He could get the job done for less $ than Jordan/Asik/Lopez.

^ he's too concerned about his money. Don't think they'll be able to reach a buy out cause he's not willing to leave much money on the table and not many teams are going to be lining up to pay him big money this late in the season. Here's a quote from Stein's article

They reached a buyout & he got to keep all of his money. He turned down a 2 year deal with the C Bags because they wanted a team option & he wanted a player option. They aren't any better than we are, so it seems like it could be a legit option if we're willing to give him the player option.

McGee is dumb as a bag of Rasheed Wallaces. I don't want him on the Lakers.

Is he dumb enough to drive our tank further into the ditch? Because that's what we should be asking ourselves.

Not for a 2nd year player option he's not. You want him to come here and lose some games this season? Cool. Next season he better be gone though.

We already have Wes Johnson for the dumb effort fueling the TANK. Such as the boneheaded foul when should not have been given yet late in the loss to Grizzlies last night listening to Ireland and Thompson on radio. That's how you do it. [IMG]

Heisler's a former Lakers beat reporter, so he has connections.

So apparently the front office doesn't believe they'll be able to pick up Deandre Jordan, Lemarcus Aldridge, or Marc Gasol. I can understand Aldridge and Gasol. I'm a bit puzzled about Jordan. He's solid, but I'd be surprised if the Clippers go way over the cap and possibly lux tax to keep him.

I would think we've got a great shot at Monroe. I assume he thinks we aren't interested in him? Our name has been connected to him for years.

    I forgot to mention Monroe.

Detroit stretched Josh Smith earlier this season, so they have plenty of space to match whatever another team matches.

Stan Van Gundy still likes Monroe, despite Detroit's losing record.

The question is whether Monroe wants to stay in Detroit or leave. And if he leaves, does he come to another team with a losing record (us) or does he stay in Detroit?

LA is a nicer city, but the west is tough to get into the playoffs. I believe we have a chance with Monroe, but it's far from 100%.

If the Clippers don't make it past the 2nd or 1st round again (not unlikely, they're still a mediocre defensive team despite Jordan's presence), I think we have a better shot at Jordan. Even with Steve Balmer's pursestrings, the Clippers will find it hard to justify paying close to max money for a 3rd/4th valuable player on a team that can't get to the WCF.

I think Detroit will offer the max to Monroe, but does he want it from them? They hesitated this last summer and I know a lot of times players take great offense to that. I think if the Lakers offer Monroe the max (which would still be less than 20 million), he's theirs no questions asked. I really believe that.

I'm an outside supporter of getting Jordan, but only for the right cost. You're right, a prude GM would look at the Clippers' position and make some changes. Letting go of one of their "Big 3" would make sense to clear room for someone else who is more impactful. Then again the Cap is scheduled to skyrocket so most teams are going to be willing to pay plenty of cash right now. Incidentally, that's why I'm alright with maxing Dragic if we need to even though most people don't agree with me.

I like Monroe. The thing I like most about him is it means we didn't sign Rondo.

The thing I'd like most is he's a strong offensive Center, not unlike Okafor. He's a solid rebounder and a really underrated passer. I think he's a little similar to Okafor, but a little smaller.

He and Randle would make a pretty dynamic offensive duo.

Of course he would. He'd shoot it 29 times a game as opposed to 30.
