Ruined is a matter of opinion. Many fans are simply upset that their version of fan fiction didn’t make it onscreen. What they had built up in their heads for decades, same with the prequels. And the nee movies largely blow the prequels out of the water, except for Sith, IMO (I love that movie). Nothing was ruined for me, other than having a disinterest in Solo and not caring about Boba Fett. I was dying to see an Obi-Wan movie, and I can’t wait to see 9. Not every movie can please every fan, that’s why to real’s point, we don’t have to complain much as we’re getting so many of them. Oh well, I hope at least Obi-Wan gets back on track in a couple years and Rian Johnson gets to do his trilogy still. Again, “ruined” is a point of view, just like “good” ;)

Lol the Jimmy rustle in here is amazing....

But in other news I think the postponing of everything is a good move. While I am squarely in the TLJ is flawed but great crowd and I did enjoy Solo, I think it's fairly obvious that Kennedy is playing fast and loose with the movies. This resulted in two movies that had to be almost entirely reshot, parts of both 7 and 8 that boggle my mind, and an underwhelming box office from a solid movie that no one really wanted to see. Hopefully the pause being called will give them time to iron a lot of this crap out and get the right people charge of the creative direction of star wars.

I had to look up “jimmy rustle”, that’s funny. The rest I can totally get behind, I wanted that movie, but they can’t keep hiring and firing directors on a whim, and they can’t keep announcing movies with such a seeming lack of any purpose or continuity. It doesn’t need to be like Marvel, but Weintraub on Collider made a good point I thought, that there is some confusion with the casual movie-goer (re:not hardcore SW fans) when these SW movies come out with little advertising and they have no idea what time period they’re set in or how they tie-in to the other films.

No way to know what’s true, but this

Sounds like one of the worst ideas ever. Talk about shrinking the galaxy and having zero creativity. All the places they could go and they’d pick that? I dunno about that one, I want to believe it’s false.

I mean, it seemed like they were just sort of joking about that being the title, but I agree. If that was the world they were going to explore...

If this is accurate, it does make me wonder. Rian's trilogy was supposedly well into pre-production. If the Benioff and Weiss trilogy is now before Rian's, I am inclined to believe that they are just going to keep pushing it out until they can sort of do a Colin Trevorrow and part ways due to creative differences.

I'd say that's unlikely. They'll push it off until fans realize they're wrong on TLJ when Episode 9 wraps up the current trilogy. Fans will look back on their reaction to Episode 8 and feel silly for not realizing it's a good movie. Then they'll announce Rian Johnson's trilogy will be brought back into the mix, likely with him as an EP instead of director.

If it was politically mothvated this being the biggest pop culture brand in the world the endless debate was inevitable.

Unlike Star Trek they don't give us new EU contenet besides SWTOR.

If i would have a major stake in Disney i would say it's ruined and it needs fixing right now.

I would be fine with non trilogy movies going straight to streaming/dvd.
I would love to bet against you if there was a clear way to measure it.

I can’t even with this. They’re movies, there are actual, real worthwhile causes to take up in life. Oh my fellow SW fans, life is not a SW Convention from like the 80’s, people in general do not care about this. To live in such a bubble, it must be bliss, this is so nerdy it could only have come from SW fans, just wow.

But I spent 6 days drafting it! It took me two days to decide on that awesome border for the document.
