DJ has been overtaken by the new run and gun Era. I certainly want no part of him.

He is not that great of a player and a mental midget.

Obviously huge ramifications towards what we do with Jules.

Another angle to look at is LA could have gotten a project rim protector in Mitchell Robinson during the draft but instead chose to go offense with Moe.

Maybe they have a defensive center for immediate help in their plans (which again fits into the rumored secret target of DJ to Lakers narrative).

yeah, it's all about being able to switch everything effectively.

ball, george, ingram, lebron could do just that. find a way to keep randle, that's an effective lineup.

otherwise, we can snag a bargain bin guy like an Ed Davis and still survive. i'm sure Easy E wouldn't mind being back in LA. you could even throw around aaron baynes or amir johnson.

Dear Lord all of those options make me queasy.

I'd rather have Brook Lopez by a million percent.

I understand the dubs are champs, but I'm frankly sick and tired of the narrative that we need to match up with them to succeed. f*** that!

I applaud Htown for getting within 1 win of the Finals when nearly everybody said it wouldn't work bball wise, let alone having enough to match up with the dubs.

Have the dubs match up to us. I'm not saying DJ is "the" answer...but I ain't certainly turning a blind eye to a legit rim protector/runner cause we don't match up to the dubs.

Putting a Rudy type center with Bron/PG/BI/Zo on the perimeter...f*** matching up to the Hamptons... We'd El Lay the Wood on the West.

We can't afford all 3 without some trades going down though. For that lineup, we'd have to find a taker for Deng, unless we're moving Kuz and Deng for DJ?

if you want them to matchup to us then you need an offensive big that has enough foot speed to hang with green AND punish him on the blocks....i.e. Davis lol

^^^DJ is pondering an opt & trade. Jules is restricted and a Dallas native, but they have to know we'll match and tie up their cap in the process. cLips looking to lose Avery and DJ for nothing. OKC looking to lose PG for nothing.

There's a deal that can be had there.

Jules @18 + Deng + Laker picks to Dallas
Matthews + Laker 2nd rounders to cLips
    Avery to OKC
    DJ/PG to LA

Use Jules to dump Deng. Mavs take on Deng, but they got a guy they would probably lose out on if LA matched. DJ can threaten to opt out to walk into cap space enabling Cp2.0 for the cLips. OKC can get Avery as a PG replacement to pair with their real MVP, Roberson. cLips get some more youth via 2nd rounders and a nice expiring in Matthews that allows them to play the '19 market. LA brings in 2 guys Bron had been rumored to wanna play with. Later in the season if Kawhi becomes an option, send DJ back home to Texas along with a couple of our kids.

I understand that a S&t Avery would hard cap the Thunder, but maybe it gives cheap a** Clay to shed payroll. If not, then scrap Avery and rearrange the deal to have Matthews go to OKc. cLips woukd then have a 24m TPE they can use for a later deal. Still better than losing DJ for nothing in return.

Btw: AD in LA world be a dream! Him and a healthy Kawhi is all I need. That's my plan A by a country mile.

Pair this with Luka's 6.5M rookie deal and that is roughly 10m that Dallas now has tied up (81M in team salary = about 20m in cap space) that could affect any offer sheet they can throw at Jules.

They can go nuclear by not picking up Dirk's 5m option and renouncing his 7.5m cap hold while also clearing up another 3m in the 3 partially guaranteed contracts they have. They can also renounce the QO they tendered to Yogi to clear additional cap but that would mean Dallas loses 5 players' rights (including Dirk) just to clear up enough cap for a max deal for Jules.

Also it's really interesting they only tendered a QO to Yogi and not Noel and McDermott.

I thought Brook did a fine job protecting the rim against his own man and helping when he could on the weak side.
