Why would the Spurs trade Leonard to Cleveland? Cleveland doesn't have one player outside Lebron that is worth a grease spot?

Mavs need a center and probably don't want anything to do with another Achilles injured or Dwight.

That’s gold. Matt Barnes jumping in with the comment “Get that money bro”, and IT with the “LOL”, good stuff.

The Mavericks may swoop in and grab Brook Lopez and Julius Randle. They may be back in the playoffs next year.

Regardless if we get PG or LeBron, one of the holes in our roster will be a solid backup point guard.

Until Lonzo proves he won’t miss significant time every time another player sneezes on him, I think it’s important we get a competent backup for him. I don’t want to have to watch Ennis for another year.

I was looking at the list of available free agent point guards. Unfortunately there’s a lack of quality point guards. Most younger ones are restricted:

I normally would want Rondo but I have a feeling he will pout if he came off the bench, and they seem to like him in New Orleans so they will probably try to keep him. One that caught my eye that I think could work is Michael Carter Williams. He’s still relatively young, didn’t have any major injuries, and his skill set is similar to Lonzo’s (big guard, decent rebounder/passer, can’t shoot lol). He would be good to have just to mimick Lonzo in practice if Lonzo was injured and can’t participaye

What's the biggest hole in Caruso's game? His handle? (for 3rd backup). Maybe Miles Simon or some other handles guru is putting him through some regimen of fancy drills like Kuzma, Hart, BI and Lonzo? His athleticism, defense and shooting if improved even a bit over the summer seem passable. He's got the height and grit.

Rudy Gay opted out. Would he be an interesting Julius Randle replacement? Does his skill set better match what we’re looking for?

If we, hurl, sign LeBron, backup PG is a moot issue. There is simply no need. LeBron will be the PG when/if Lonzo is injured.

What we'll need, though is a SG that can PG on defense and shoot. And I'd say we have at least one player already on our roster for dirt cheap.

I mean I think he’d be a good fit off our bench, but not as a Randle replacement.

Honestly I don’t see many players on the market that could effectively replace Randle’s role. We need a small ball center who can run the floor, attack off the dribble, shoot (not his strong suit, but it’s not like he’s one of those guys too scared to take jumpers at all), and switch defensively onto perimeter players.

I would feel so much better about free agency if it started with immediately dumping Deng and re-signing Randle to a reasonable contract while maintaining the other 2 max slots.

I'll make this clear; I think OKC has become a real possibility for PG to re-sign. I think he likes it genuinely liked playing with Westbrook and thought highly of the OKC organization.

He could end up here, which most think; we will see; but I am not dismissing OKC as a possible destination.

I still think he'd habe to be insane to end up signing there...I think he is 50/50 right now. IMO

How is their any evidence of PG staying in OKC? Why would he do that? Because he's buddies with Westbrook?

This is a business, Paul George is not turning down a max contract to his favorite team, in his town, with the team needing him and the lakers 2 players away from contending.

Paul George will be a Laker next week. book it. it will official soon after that.
