He is right, i would have hated it. the critics woudl have hated it. Casual movie watchers would have felt indifferent.

I bet in the end there would be some preaching about a Philosopher King.

Yeah, I realize they kept it in name, it was mentioned in Rogue One, but not as this strange world of microbitoc creatures. As for the guy at the beginning of TFA, I’ve never read that about him specifically

Maybe I was thinking about the monks in Rogue One. I definitely had never heard of nor thought about tiny creatures called Whills that literally willed the Force to do things. I would not have liked that. :D

All stand alone SW movies on hold. That doesn't include the saga films or Rian Johnson's trilogy. It does include the Boba Fett movie, any Solo sequels, and the Obi-Wan movie.

So way to go protesters! You got exactly what you wanted, right?

Actually, the Rian Johnson trilogy may be on hold as well. The Collider report said they are focusing on Episode 9 and the next trilogy. That may or may not be Rian Johnson's.

And yes, this is what we wanted. If they slow down and rethink what they've been doing, that's a bad thing? Regardless of how much you liked Episode 8, Lucasfilm can't keep chugging along with the same plan (which is by their own admission flying by the seat of their pants from Episode to Episode). There is far too much divisiveness for the brand to be healthy long-term. Here's hoping the other trilogy they have planned is just Episode 10-12.

There's absolutely no way it's 10-12 at this point. They're going to take a long break between saga trilogies.

The next trilogy is almost certainly Rian Johnson's since it's the only one with any momentum production-wise unless there's some ridiculous amount of work the Game of Thrones guys have done without anyone knowing.

This is the opposite of what I wanted. The standalone films had nothing wrong with them at all. Solo was completely enjoyable and a fun dose of Star Wars and "fans" who tanked it out of spite have ruined what could have been a fun series of Star Wars movies. Now we get potentially less content for no good reason. I don't disagree on having a better thought out plan in terms of the saga series, but this has nothing to do with that.

I really, really wanted that Obi-Wan movie. Wish they’d have done that first, or left Solo in December and it would have done better. Oh well, I guess Ewan still has a loooong time left to play the part.

I get it. And I bet Solo is decent. But if fans are upset about something (for any intellectual property), the only way to show their disdain is with their wallets. Like I've said, they got our money for Last Jedi. If Lucasfilm were to refund us the ticket price for Last Jedi so it's box office better reflected what we thought, I would have gone and seen Solo. If you don't show them you're upset, they will feel everything is fine. I realize Solo got screwed on this. It's not fair for them. But for the millions of fans that hated the Last Jedi and feel betrayed by Lucasfilm, it's the only voice we have.

You could make the argument that if we let the cancer grow, the entire brand will die. And the reason is a ton of fans hate the overall direction. There are movies that I like that I will never see sequels to because people didn't get out to see it.

There was no cancer. There was a great movie that you didnt like, but obviously millions and millions of people did.

And now you think they're going to make things better? All they're going to do is play it safe and make movies that take less chances. Hooray.

Millions and millions of people didn't like it either. I suppose I should continue to go to restaurants that give me bad service because maybe a different waiter is better. There was obviously a huge amount of people who didn't like it. Yet you want us to continue to file into the theaters and support a company when we don't agree with their direction. Seriously?

Yes I do. Go see the good movies and don't see the bad movies. Easy as that. If The Last Jedi was as awful as you say it was, it wouldn't have made that much money.

So now the only thing you hurt was, by your own definition, quality content and instead we're just going to get saga movies that you don't like and less of the content we should get. Your plan does not make sense.

It isn't as simple as going to a restaurant with bad service. It's you not getting along with one person at a restaurant chain, so you burn down all the locations that haven't done anything wrong to you.

No one is burning anything down. But it would be like not going to another one in the same chain. If I has a terrible experience at an Applebees, I'm probably not going to want to visit another one......which is a hell of a lot less dramatic than burning them down.

    Burning down was a euphemism.

All you've really done is ruin what could have been the great parts of Star Wars because you didn't like a movie. It's very upsetting for me. Solo didn't deserve this and the only way I was interested in a Boba Fett movie was with Mangold attached. Hell, we all wanted an Obi-Wan movie.

Now likely all you've really done is guaranteed the next SW movie you get after 9 is the Rian Johnson driven trilogy. Isn't that the opposite of what you want?

If I'm being completely honest, I won't watch that trilogy and likely won't even watch Episode 9 in the theaters. Last Jedi completely killed my love of Star Wars. At this point I pretty much view Disney Star Wars as s***** fan fiction and the canon ended with Ewoks singing nub nub.

Then that begs the question: why do you care about any of this?

Seriously. The option is there to just watch 4-6 forever and read all the EU books and pretend none of this Disney stuff happened. Shame it has to be ruined for the rest of us that just want SW movies to enjoy.

Hoping to see the news that Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy are out. Then maybe I might start to consider coming back as a fan (Depending on who they hire to take the reins). Believe me, I have 50+ SW Funko Pop dolls, figures from every era (including my figures from the 80s), I have read a bunch of the books, played SW:TOR, etc, etc. I want to like Star Wars again, but this is no longer Star Wars. Lucas commercialized the heck out of, but this Frankenstein Monster isn't what I came to know as Star Wars.

Think of it like this. The love of my life became a meth addict. I tried to reason with her, but she has now become a danger to me and my kids. But I will keep tabs on her in the hopes she can recover, and if she does, maybe we can see what happens and try to repair the relationship. I love her and care about her, but she is a different person.

Rian Johnson is cocaine and Kathleen Kennedy is meth.

Who ruined what? If me and the millions of other who hated Last Jedi decide do what you suggest, then this is exactly what happens. Because we vocalized why we are doing it on the internet, that makes it different? People stop watching stuff all the time and then things get canceled. Blame Rian Johnson for trying to get cute. Blame Rian Johnson for having an ego that said, "I can f*** with possibly the most iconic character in film history because I am so smart and know what's best." Don't blame people who decided to not pay a company they don't trust. It's asinine to expect such a thing. It's also a shame that Star Wars was ruined for so many people by a hack director.

I love you two guys though. :D
