i know dallas isn't looking at that kind of return to rent their space. they're actually supposedly trying to win next year.

chicago and atlanta might be willing, but there's going to be bidders galore. houston wants to dump anderson. memphis wants to dump parsons (and, according to some, will consider using the #4 to help do it). denver wants to dump faried (much easier to swallow).

it's a crowded market of teams that need to get off bad deals with only a few places who can accept. keep in mind that for some of these teams (chi and dal, for example), they'll have to renounce rights on guys in order to clear the space just to accept a useless, highly paid player.

i don't think your trade is plausible, particularly if the receiving team knows it's paving the way for lebron/george or something like this. those 2019-20 picks will be worthless. 4 or 5 picks between 25 and 60 isn't appetizing to me, put it that way. if we strike out in FA and some team wants to dump a one-year on us for the #27 pick, i'll be like meh. if they want to drop TWO years of bad salary on us, i want a lotto pick plus.

We'll see. The market was just set, but you've made up your mind on what the market is already. I understand dump sites are limited, but that's up to Rob to figure out and if Mitch just took that deal, then there's deals to be made. Rob is smart enough to make them. Every trade he's made thus far has been the right one.

You're really channeling your inner leftymo these days.

Hey Mitch, you want Deng too?

In other news, Mitch finally gets something for Dwight!

mitch took one year of dead salary, as howard has little-to-no trade value these days.

i only have a vague recollection of leftymo, so i'm not sure what that means. i just see a lot of lakers-serving speculation that we're not extending elsewhere when considering possibilities. i mean, the rebuttal here was that rob is smart (implying other gms aren't), so we'll nail this. don't you think atlanta fans are laughing at the idea of deng plus a smorgasbord of guaranteed late picks for whatever cap space they have? aren't they saying their management team is too smart for that?

leftymo was a ClubLakers fixture. He was a very basketball smart poster who always managed to find the negative angle in anything Lakers related.

You're forgetting one thing...It's Mitch Kupchak and Timofey Mozgov. There seems to be some sort of mysterious force in the universe (incomprehensible stupidity has been theorized by top physicists) that pulls these two meat bags together.

Thank God Mitch is gone. The guy literally has no sense of the new age salary cap.

Not at all. They're taking on some cash for 3 picks and moving up in the draft. Last season we traded down in the draft 2 spots and netted a 2nd in that draft for it. Deng turns into an expiring contract at the perfect time for them: while their young guys will be young and cheap, but exciting. They'll clear 40 million in salary with Bazemore coming off too.

What else are they doing with their cap space?

    Sure does...

As of right now, it's classified as pending. Dwight would have to report for a physical within 48hrs of league offices approving the deal.

This one move right here, Mitch's first move at Charlotte, would incite fear if I were the owner. This tells me that guy has not evolved and is hell bent on giving legitimacy to himself that his original acquisition of Mosgov while on the Lakers made great sense. It didn’t Mitch, and it doesn’t now. I would rather have gotten rid of Howard for nothing then get Mosgov back. He could have actually legitimized his prior move of not getting something for Dwight. Charlotte will continue to be irrelevant.

I loved leftymo. I'm just saying my trade isn't really that Laker tinted and this last trade proves it.

It's a solid trade. It might not happen because Atlanta might get "better" offers for their cap space, but my trade really isn't all that biased.

Nor is my vision for Ingram, Ball, Kuzma and Randle's value in their primes with 5 years and more to hit them.
