I think OX meant: Hard crap might be the only way to have parody in the NBA.

Cause this soft s*** is just mildly comical.

Start at 36:00. PG and Lebron talk. Whole podcast is good, though.

I agree 100% with all of that. If we have a chance at two prime superstars, LeBron, and two kids, you do it without question and without hesitation. I've been saying it for months and I think if/when this happens fans will be split BUT they'll be fine once they see the squad we are ready to put out.

    Lonzo/vet
    George/Hart
    Kawhi/
    LeBron/
    Randle/Lopez

Sure we'll miss Ingram and Kuzma, but I'll trade them all for a chance at a dynasty.

    Vet/Youngster
    George/Hart
    Kawhi/
    LeBron/Kuz
    Randle/Lopez

I agree with Pete that Lonzo is an excellent fit with other stars. His ability to affect games while not needing a high usage is perfect.

I'd be willing to move him though for the right deal.

I wasn’t for it because I thought GS was locked into automatic titles for the next 3 years or so. After seeing that Houston would have beaten them had Chris Paul not gone down, my view changed. Now is the time to strike, GS is tired and bored, Iggy isn’t getting any younger and we see how flawed they are without him. I can already see Lakers vs C Bags the next generation taking shape if we hit a grand slam in free agency. I’m not married to anyone anymore if it means a shot at a championship, I trust this FO to make the right moves, and to keep stocking up quality talent through the draft.

Ok, so, if Leonard makes up with Lebron or SAS decides to ship him off to another destination, I think we're still on the market for a 3rd star. Question is who is out there that fits within LBJ's and PG's window and what salary can work.

    Any thoughts?

If not Kawhi (who I personally would wait for in '19 anyways, unless he forces SA's hand and kills his trade value), then I would look at AD (my #1 target even if we don't land Bron/PG), KAT, Klay (maybe GS trades him if he refuses a cheaper extension to become a '19 UFA), Kemba (Mitch owes us), Ky (but I hate dealing with Ainge, so wait until '19 and plus dude is to brittle for my taste) JWall (Washington looks terrible and may blow it up...but see Ky for concerns), Lilliard (after getting swept, see Washington), DeAndre, Whiteside or Dwight (Deng would have to be involved in the latter two targets).

Either way...Zo, Kuz, Hart and TB just came onto the scene for us and even if I like all those dudes, I like titles more. I would do anything to hold onto BI and Zo tho if I could.

I am with you guys. Love our youth, but everyone is available if we can get titles. I am not scared of these Warriors. Try to hold on two of our young guys if possible. Zo/Ingram/Hart, keep any 2 of these, I an good with that.

Yep, it's titles or bust for me. I'm done with this half-a** rebuild that Jim/Mitch put us thru. It's more pressure on Rob/Magic, but I sincerely feel they can get it done! Plus it's easy to trust those that are like of mind as we are.

Yeah, Kawhi is my number 1 target if PG/LBJ come; I love the idea of those wings and the versatility they would have on the court. I also like the names you listed; Wall's contract gets super scary, though. KAT would work, and he's still on a rookie deal for now.

Lilliard keeps coming to mind, though. I absolutely love his game, and while he and his team were swept by the Pelicans, I'd still welcome him here with open arms. I think we may find a disgruntled Lilliard at some point in Portland if they keep losing; IMO...

My problem with the notion that we should trade all our youth for a third star and title is I don't believe we get a title without most of our youth.

The timing of what you guys are suggesting doesn't realistically fit for me if LLLLL is involved. You build championship teams off good contracts. Players playing above their pay grade. We have that in spades right now, and the opportunity to keep ALL of the young core with two max free agents because of Bird rights.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... teams don't gel to win titles over night. I don't care how good LLLLL looks today, I'd bet a million he doesn't look like that when he's 35 or 36 (before you say it, NO a hobbled and old LLLLL still is not worth it). Bron in his second or third year as a Laker would be the first years we would realistically have a chance. You have a two year window. After that I think its most likely you're looking at Bron injured or severely declining. Now instead of 3 stars, you're looking at 2 stars and a poor supporting cast because you traded away all the talent for that chance in the moment.. welcome back to Cleveland LaBron.

No. If we trade one guy, I'd be mad, but I could somewhat understand. If we trade two, it would be a bad deal. We would not have the depth to compete for a championship, in such a short time frame, and we would have traded away the potential future for a flimsy chance at win now. Filling out the roster with scrubbs is ridiculous when you're on a clock.

I feel like part of the reason some of you want this so much is because you want that championship so bad, but another part is I don't think some of you see the potential I see in our young core. I'd make the bet that one of our young core of players pops and turns into the star that leads the Lakers to our next championship (after the 2 free agents we acquire this/next summer show them the ropes on how to win) before I'd take the bet we win a championship in the tiny 2 year window between team gelling and Bron's production falling off the cliff because of old age and/or he gets severely injured.

Instead we have a different 2 year window. Starting this off season, we have 2 years to get at least 2 star free agents before the youngsters contracts come up, starting with Ingram. If we haven't gotten anybody by the end of the 2019 free agency we will be essentially screwed because the young core kids will start eating into the free agent cap room we would have otherwise used to make additions to the team.

PS: LLLLL is playing amazing right now though. Living up to the hype finally over the past two years IMO

I agree with a lot of your thinking. To clarify my earlier comment, I am not for trading away our young core to bring in any and everyone LeBron would want. I am for making smart moves to put us into championship contention, a continuation of the moves the FO has already been making the last year and a half. I was also going off some suggestions in that podcast. Like if Kawhi is proven to be healthy and he demands out of SA, I am ok with losing 2 out of our core for him if Deng can go to SA in the deal. Have to match salaries somehow, right? 2 young guys don’t do that, and we don’t have other big money players under contract. I love our core, but IF Kawhi Leonard could be had and added to PG and LeBron, and again as suggested in that podcast, you can also then retain Randle, I don’t see how you don’t do it. You have to keep 2 of Zo/Kuz/Ingram/Hart, and if you do you’re talking about PG, Kawhi, LeBron, Randle, and whoever else at PG (hopefully Zo) and that’s frightening for others teams, a possible defensive nightmare.

It’s all incredibly pipe though, we’re talking crazy hypotheticals here. I think dumping Deng, adding LeBron, PG, retaining Randle, and signing ring chasers to fill out the roster would be wayyyyy more than enough, would be overachieving in one offseason, and I do think LeBron would have to like most of our core in the first place to even join here, because it’s not guaranteed they could be traded for whoever he wants, so he’d have to expect to play with them in some scenario.

My whole rant is predicated on the notion LLLLL would be a part of this as a 4 year contract. If that happens, he'd be eating up too much of the cap space to add anyone of note while he declines/gets injured.

As much as I'd love to have him, Kawhi, PG, ingram and Hart wouldn't be enough to win it all IMO because we would have to fill out the roster with scrubbs because grandpaw would be in street clothes eating up 40 mil or something cap space per year.

I should clarify you figure out how to add Kawhi, Davis, and PG in a trade for the core and I'm listening.... even though I'm still worried Kawhi's injury might be worse that advertised

You really don’t think LeBron, Kawhi, PG, Ingram, Hart and scrubs would be enough after seeing Harden, CP3, Gordon, and a bunch of role players about to beat the Warriors? Or LeBron, Love, and a bunch of scrubs almost beat them last night? I think that’s plenty, the Warriors are already getting championship fatigue, the league is starting to swing to the younger teams that are breaking through like Boston, Philly, and NO, and we’ve already given the Warriors quite a handful multiple times in the regular season the last couple seasons. I was with you entirely until I saw the Warriors this playoffs, they look like we did in 2002-2003, reaching that point where it’s about to end, and other teams need to get ready to capitalize because the title is gonna be wide open again. I really don’t want to lose ANY of Zo/Kuz/Ingram/Hart or Randle, but for the right deals, getting back to championship contention, I am now more open to it. Missing the playoffs 5 years in a row is enough already. And again, I’m trusting this FO to get us into contention while continuing to add draft talent along the way and not completely sell our future away.

Harden will be 30 in 2 years and in his prime. LLLLL will be 35 in 2 years and on the decline

It's all about the clock and father time
