@vasashi17 No worries. Just friendly back and forth discussion and it's nice to see someone as into the salary cap talk as I am.

That's crafty planning but the bolded/underlined portion is where it falters. Once the Lakers renounce/Wear and Ingram, they go right back to 10 roster spots. So even though they gain 3.3M in cap space by removing their cap holds, the team loses 1.66M in cap space because 2 roster charges are created in their place. So the team would only gain the difference in cap space, moving the needle from 26M to 27.64M.

If the Lakers really were that adamant about freeing up 2 MAX roster slots - for PG/Cousins, not Lebron because obviously he'd be notably more - they could just waive all 3 team options and trade their 1st rounder for a future 1st rounder. These 4 moves, while not ideal and seriously undercutting the Lakers' depth, would free up the necessary cap space to be able to offer PG and Cousins (or someone else with less than 10 years experience in the NBA) the MAX.

In the end, the best way for the Lakers to free up the type of cap flexibility to do the things they hope to do in terms of making big time moves this summer is to dump Deng, not stretch him. Whether it's in a salary dump or somehow convincing one of OKC, CLE or NO to take him back in a sign and trade. Which would obviously require some very legit assets being attached to him because taking on Deng is a negative transaction and worse than just letting their star free agent leave for nothing.

Brown does make sense. There will be a logjam once Hayward returns. Unfortunately Brown is the odd man out.

Earlier this week, When DeMarcus Cousins unfollowed the Pelicans on instagram and immediately started following Paul George, Julius Randle and Isaiah Thomas.

I gotta believe he’s just trying to use the Lakers as leverage to get the Pelicans to give him a max contract

No way BOS does that. Not BOTH Tatum and Brown.

Without thinking about it too deeply the C's just for Kat would have to likely give up: Either Tatum and Brown, Horford, Rozier, and 1st Round Pick, and maybe another 1st.

If I was BOS, I would definitely do that deal but would want to give up Brown instead of Tatum. I just don't think MIN does that but that's an insane lineup of youth:

    PG: Irving
    SG: Tatum
    SF: Hayward
    PF: Morris
    C: Towns

Well, if Cousins is insistent on the max, then New Orleans has an excuse for when they let him leave as a free agent. That he was all about the $. The Pelicans are frankly better off not saddling themselves with that massive contract and can go forward with a fairly solid PF/C tandem as is with Mirotic/Brow and use that $ towards re-signing Rondo.

Hey Boogie, if NO doesn't give you max, how about a 1+1 max deal if we can't land Lebron/PG?

So they are offering him the Supermax? I thought it was still questionable if they would because of the injury/“I don’t want to be here”

Leonard cant get super max in a S&T, he have to sign and then wait out the moritorium after fa signing before they can be traded and at that pt why would SA be obliged to trade him after giving him super max?

The conversation for Buford/Leonard should be simple:

Buford: If we offer you the supermax, will you accept?
    Leonard: Yes
    Buford: Cool

    OR

Buford: If we offer you the supermax, will you accept?
    Leonard: No
Buford: Ok then. We're going to trade you.
    Leonard: Cool.

I really don't want to trade for Kawhi because there's so many red flags with how he handled the situation with the Spurs all year.

Either he was really injured and it's a risk to trade for him due to that injury...or he was NOT injured and he just refused to play because he wanted to get traded or whatever. Both situations are bad. I would say we wait this one out...no reason to give up a bunch of our young core for him.

I would do Ingram and Deng for him. That's it. Nothing more. Then find a way to re-sign Randle, and get PG/LeBron...

    Randle
    LeBron
    Kawhi
    PG13
    Zo

    Bench:
    Kuzma
    Hart
    Zu
    Lopez?

I don't know if I'd select him with our #25 pick but as far as a backup PG I can't think of a safer bet around that range of picks and this is one of the positions we're going to need to improve this off-season.

I think those are great comparisons too.

He was not good defensively all year long and that really pissed off the Wolves who kept trying to put him situations to succeed. He never figured it out.

Wow! We really did draft the better player in Russell. Dodged those big stiffs in Towns and Okafor.

    :Crazyartest:

    Oh wait ... never mind.
