    If injuries cooperate, Julius be a stud in this league. One of the things that I heard today from Byron that I surprisingly liked was how he wanted Julius to become a more 'physical screener;' I liked that; it's one of the more unnoticed things that don't get recognized that will help this team going forward; another thing I would like him to focus on is boxing out his man. Along with all that, face up jumper; it will open up his game so much more...

    He's going to be a very dangerous player if he develops his range past 18 feet..... with his slashing ability, a total nightmare for the defense.

    And imagine if Okafor was on the other block :cool:

    that shot's looking better and better over time. still a bit too much push (not much elevation) to it for my liking, but david west managed to do ok despite that.

    good to see him moving around, which hopefully means that he'll be in good condition for camp next year.

    Jlius Randle wrote his debut piece for The Cauldron this morning, and in addition to expounding upon the state of the college game and the decision faced by players to go "one and done", he also revealed "since last summer, I have spent countless hours watching and talking about basketball with Kobe." There are surely not many better players in the league for Randle to be watching film with than Bryant, a notorious film addict.

    That is awesome to read. His childhood idol giving him all that knowledge about the game and how exactly to deal with the crushing 1st game of his pro career serious injury.

    Great essay from the kid. Intellectual, insightful, and well written.

    I think he misses the boat though a little bit with his argument: everyone knows already that the situation is unique to the player going from high school to the pros. That's not in question at this point. What's in question is whether or not allowing kids to go directly to the NBA would hurt college ball more than it already has. I don't think so, but it's possible.

    The solution to me is simple: follow baseball rules. If you want to go straight to the pros go for it, good luck. If you want to go to college, great but you have to stay there for three seasons. Some kids will choose college, some kids will go pro. Nailed it!

    He reported having a handful of workouts with the recently retired Steve Nash before the trip. After making 49 percent of his field-goal attempts and 90.4 percent of his free throws through 18 NBA seasons, Nash helped Randle’s shooting technique so he can become a mid-range threat in a league that values stretch forwards. Randle, who showed potential as a playmaker, also sounded receptive toward Nash offering any point-guard tips in future workouts.

    “I try to learn and soak up as much as possible,” Randle said. “(Passing) is always natural for me. But you can never learn too much.”

    Oh hell yeah! I love hearing Nash is working with a number of our guys. Nash knows shooting on top of everything else. Julius says he already has benefitted. Good to see, I hope and at this point kind of expect to see Steve stay around the game by staying on as part of the Lakers staff. That would be awesome.
