Maybe just me but with a bunch of good bigs again in the league for next decade, I want a center who can move his feet and "jump" on defense with good timing. Not just stand there with hands in the air as if that is enough, as Okafor frequently does. Seems to save all his energy for offense. Isn't that kind of defense what we came to hate with Pau when at least he had somewhat of an excuse .... feet problems and advancing age.

^Yeah, he said that last year, actually. Somebody just put Mitch's face and captioned what he said at that time; I thought it was funny...

He's 100% right. Any time we're in this position it's been an awful year.

The goal should be to get the 30th pick every season.

Meh, I am so over "winning" until next season by which time we shall have evened the playing field quite a bit. HOPEFULLY.

Towns is almost neck and neck with Okafor for me now.

He's looking to be a mighty fine defensive presence.

I'm not saying win games this season, I'm saying it should never be our goal to get a high draft pick. Any time we get a high draft pick that comes as a result of our own record it's a horrible, terrible thing. We are the Lakers. Missing the playoffs two seasons in a row is unprecedented and should absolutely never happen. I know we want the draft pick now because we find ourselves in this position, but when we look back at these last two years they should be worst years we've had following the team.

Here's a great video of Towns' developing game. He's got a few rudimentary post moves now, but sometimes that's all you really need. He's catching up with Okafor to me. If we end up with the 2-4th pick and get Towns we might have won the draft.

Kid's got a bright future ahead of him.

He's very much like Bynum imo, with a little bit more polish coming out of Callipari's program at his age.

He utilizes his size and length well on those jump hooks that few can get to. A bit more strength and add some better footwork and a left hand, he'll be a force.

Again, I love his defense. That pick and roll block he had where he hedged, recovered to his man to protect the open shot, and the commit to block was perfect.

The bolded x100. He was able to move very his feet well laterally and has the ability to guard out in space.

I would not cry if that happened. We could do worse than Artest 2.0 at SF for the next 10 years.

Okafor would be a better prospect if a team were stacked with shooters (to fully utilize an inside-out game)

Although Okafor has a much better inside game (huge gap in that department) Towns may be versatile enough in many other facets of the game (ie activity, defense, shooting) to make up for that disadvantage.

I'd still be happy with either.
