Seems to be working fine to me, Byron. Pick and roll offense looks better than Byron's playbook so far.

Um what? I mean that's awesome for the tank because Lin has been killing it in the pick and roll, but is Byron watching a different game?

What's scary is that this is him trying to win. The crazy start my bench and bench my starters but play them the most minutes lineup, threes don't win championships, this team's going to play defense but give up more points than anyone in the league, no analytics...it's insane.

If Mitch knew this would happen all along and this was his way of stealth tanking...I don't think he did, but if he did.... wow. Genius.

LOL! Yet, people will say it's all apart of his tanking strategy. When in reality, he's just a dumba$$

Good, he should order Lin to stop running it because it's been working too well. But Byron's opinion on it in general is ridiculous. It's basic basketball, it's been run for decades, teams still use it because it works. Our coaching choices have been lateral move after lateral move, man I hope one day we find a guy who actually can coach.

At this point I honestly don't think he's commander of the tank, he's just straight up dumb.

I might be in the minority but I agree with Byron... It does stop ball movement. I like it as a late game or late shot clock method, but I think it's silly to run down the floor and call for a pick and roll immediately.

Wowza, it seems like people are already ready to jump ship on Byron.

What Byron is basically saying is he doesn't like Lin. I mean this is the Lin I wanted when we signed him a strong guard who can get to the rim and into the paint to either finish or pass to the open man. Lin is a smart kid who, when confident, knows how to run the floor. If Byron doesn't like what he is doing now then it is Byron who must covet something else. To be honest, I have no idea what that is then. I guess he likes J Hill shooting 42 foot jumpers instead of playing in the paint? He likes Nick dribble, dribble, dribble and shoot a 3 in hopes of getting fouled? He likes an offense where one guy has the ball and no one moves so it is easy to trap us and get turnovers? You are losing me B. Scott I don't like being lost

Mitch... you are a genius. Hire an ex-Laker to make all the uninformed, nostalgia driven fans happy. Hire someone who rode a couple Hall of Fame pgs to success so it looks like he has a track record. But behind everyone's back you actually hired a Neanderthal of a coach who might actually wonder why the rim is made of metal and isn't an "old school" peach basket. I wonder if the Lakers run drills of dribbling and pulling up to shoot with their feet on the 3-point line? If it weren't for the fact that Scott is going to perhaps keep our draft pick in our possession until next year when the draft sucks, I would be livid with the 3rd straight coaching hire of epic fail. To be honest, I count Rudy T as well. It's really 4 straight new hires.

didn't bscott clash with jkidd? i think byron doesn't like lin gaining confidence because lin probably caps back at coach in the locker room about his minutes.

oh yeah bscott likes to run the princeton offense - aka ball movement. everyone touches it 5 times while back screens are set and then finally ryan kelly or ellington shoot a 3. good scheme baby b!

i will say this...lin does lack a little creativity...his move is to try and break ankles or use stutter step to get his man either out of position or to run into another defender and then either fake to pass or roll to rim. maybe that is what bscott is saying...wants more variety...but lin is who he is. give it a rest

Why does he continue to talk down to the media about Lin and Young? He trashes Young seemingly every time he talks about him and Lin has been in and out of his doghouse all season. Lin starts ballin' and Byron criticizes him for it. Shut up dude.

No wonder he loses his players everywhere he goes, I would tune him out to if I was ballin' via a play 100% of the league runs numerous times per game and getting burned via the media for it.

Go back to the Stone Age, Byron. I bet he seriously believes his 3 passes to get Kelly or Sacre a post iso is a better play call. (Which he did 3 straight times a couple games ago).

For some, we never got on the boat to begin with. Every team runs pick and roll, is it basic? Yes, but it's what they do during and after the initial screen. Teams like the Hawks, GSW and Spurs will run it, but they have amazing ball movement and off the ball action that sets them apart from others (See Houston/James Harden).

Byron seems to know his way and then a very basic understanding of anything outside his offense.

Surely someone shows him the numbers on the efficacy of Lin in the P&R?

    Imperfect stat, but check this:

In the past 19 games the Lakers are 4-15.
Lin's +/- is +3 in those 19. He's even or positive in 10 of them.
