I'm trying to be objective here, but Alden Ehrenreich is just bad. A lot of footage in this one of him, and I'm having a lot of trouble with his portrayal. What's even more weird is Donald Glover's Lando didn't land for me either. It felt like I was watching Troy Barnes do an impersonation of Lando. You know it's bad when Emilia Clarke is the most refreshing, believable character in the trailer. Nothing against the Mother of Dragons, but she's never been a strong actress in my opinion. Yet she seemed to be the best cast character.

I actually thought Chewbacca was the best character here. Solo, funny enough, is clearly the worst, and I feel zero connection between this Han and the Han I know and love. Lando seemed fine, if not just ok. The original issue for me now comes back around though, this movie feels entirely unnecessary. I think they thought they’d use known characters for a safe cash grab and I think they’re gonna be wrong on this one, and I’m starting to see why we’ve seen so little footage for such a long time. Honestly it makes me a little more pissed we haven’t officially gotten an Obi-Wan movie announcement, as that’s the one I’d much rather see if we’re going with known characters.

I’m actually not sure I will even go to see this in the theater, first SW movie that would ever be true of. Trailer is just bad, looks like bad fan service, and that’s coming from someone who freaking loves Rogue One. I’ll wait for reviews and fan reaction and if it’s poor I don’t think I’ll give my money to Disney, and hopefully they’ll stop playing it so safe. Then again, they didn’t play it safe with TLJ and you can’t go on any comments section anywhere without reading people calling it the worst movie ever. And this isn’t even on movie or media forums.. (though comments sections for this trailer seem to have people eating it up, so I guess people want the same ol’ same ol’). I got TLJ Blu-ray the other day though, watched it for the first time in months, and my opinion remains the same as the last time I commented on it. SW masterpiece, chills every time, tears shed, laughs had, so damn good.

I hope it’s good, I’m rooting for it, I want people to enjoy SW again. But, if it’s lame, and it still makes a ton of money, to me that will only make Kathleen Kennedy go safer, and I don’t want that. The movie looks fine, but I want more stuff like the Rebels episode “a world between worlds”, not playing it safer. If SW is now like the Marvel universe, then they’re gonna need to go bigger and bolder eventually. The Marvel universe got better when Guarians of the Galaxy came out, because it was weird, and fun, and awesome, but people were skeptical of it beforehand. Bottom line I guess though, I just don’t think this guy makes a good Han, I’m not seeing it at all, I’m trying to figure out what they say in the audition that said “Han”, or how bad everyone else was that they went with him.

Still not looking forward to this movie. The guy just doesn't yell Han Solo for me at all, it annoys me.

I found TLJ to be a total piece of junk. Everything that got set up in The Force Awakens was sidestepped and made to look inconsequential and not to mention that they blew a 30 year build up in the way they handled Luke mutha'f'ing Skywalker. Then you throw in that they killed Supreme Leader Snoke and threw in some random Yoda appearance.

I subscribe to the theory that nearly everything can be expressed with gifs

Props to @therealdeal for confirming this theory

I went back and read some of the posts and you guys have argued each side enough and there is no convincing anyone either way.

I have legitimate issue with the way they handled Luke. Aside from that, TFA and TLJ feel disjointed.

    Episode 7/Episode 8

    - Who is Snoke/It doesn’t matter he’s dead
    - Who is Tekka/It doesn’t matter he’s dead
    - How did they get Luke’s lightsaber/It doesn’t matter, let’s throw it away
    - Who are Rey’s parents/It doesn’t matter no one
    - Whats Finn’s role in the story/It doesn’t matter let’s send him to Vegas
    - What has Luke been up to?/Hunting green eggs and ham
    - How did Kylo get vader’s Mask?/It doesn’t matter at all
    - How did Kylo fall to the dark side?/It doesn’t really matter, ummm, Luke maybe wanted to kill him

The fall out between Luke and Kylo was just strange. Like really? Couldn’t have him corrupted by Snoke? Which is an age old deceptive tactic by the Sith. Couldn’t have a reason to pull towards the dark side?

I think I would have preferred either TFA or TLJ to be scrapped, because they don’t mesh at all, one sets the other one up for failure and it then just spends most of the moving trying to make jokes of those set ups to move on with the story which doesn’t have enough screen time to really work.

Rogue one was epic though. Makes a perfect point to start viewing the Star Wars journey:

    - Rogue one
    - Ep 4
    - Ep 5
    - Ep 1
    - Ep 2
    - Ep 3
    - Ep 6
