He was pumped and excited for Chris Paul to get here. I don't think he takes the reins from Paul in 2012 when Kobe was still an elite level player in the NBA. Now I think his standards are probably lower to hand the reins over. Considering he'd REALLY be handing the reins to Randle and not necessarily Dragic (or whomever), I think you're wrong my friend.

I hope you're wrong. We'll see though. He'll only be here one more year if he acts that way. Then we will look in another direction.

his 20th season could mark the first time he's ever played with a competent pg. when Derek fisher or smush parker or chucky atkins is at pg, they need to be spectators in the half court.

Are there still rumblings that we might still offer Dragic the max? I mean I'd rather spread that cap money we have to a couple of solid role players, than throw at this guy...

Maybe I am wrong. I hope I am. And you're all right when you point out that he has never played with a real pg. I just think it's also a DNA/attitude thing as well. We'll see.

No way. We already have one of the best benches in the NBA. But we have as i see it 2 quality starters-Kobe and Randle...We need to get the other 3 in FA and draft.
When the cap goes up Young on 4 per year for the best bench scorer will be peanuts. We just need to resign most bench guys (Davis, Ellington) to reasonable contracts and sign/draft the 3 other starters.

I agree, but what I'm saying is his DNA is different now than what we've been used to. He's introspective now. He's "fine" with losing now. He's got one foot out the door already. I'm thinking he'll conform IF we get a player worth conforming to.

A lot can change with a single meeting, but right now he seems to be really favoring returning to Miami even more than I thought he would. At least, either way, he doesn't plan to drag out a decision. So if we are in play for him, he stays, we can move on quickly (hopefully not to Rondo).

Do max PG's win titles? Can't think of any for a while. We need a serviceable one, and a top SG, SF, or PF, that's what wins.

Good for Dragic. He'll get paid and probably take a little less to so the Heat go could after other free agents to pair with himself, Wade (aging), Whiteside and Bosh. They also have a lottery pick coming their way. They've quietly positioned themselves very nicely and are my sleeper where a guy like Durant might land.

Honestly, I'm praying we get Dragic just so that we don't end up giving Rondo the max, as rumored.

I think Dragic stays. He's in a good spot in Miami and I think that Riley will make him a great offer. I also think Clarkson has almost closed the Rondo window. The draft is still the key, but we have greater needs than a pg now.

To be honest, if we do decide to make a move at the point, I think I'd rather roll the dice on one of the rookies than bring in Dragic or Rondo. I remain high on Russell. Scouting reports on Mudiay are touting him as a great passer and playmaker as well.

Max PG has seemed like a bad idea to me from the get go. Throw a max deal at Gasol even though he won't bite. That's the only guy out there that I think is worth it. LMA is, too, IMO, but PF isn't really a pressing need with Randle coming back. We need a C, we need a starting level SF and I'd be fine with a good veteran PG (like Mo Williams) to hold down the ship while we develop Clarkson. I'll be glad when Dragic is off the table, personally, and I would only bite on Rondo if he had a decent price tag.

I'd rather spend money on Love than Dragic/Rondo. Even if we get a big in the draft.

The thought of a (Okafor/Towns/WCS)/Love/Randle lineup entices me.

Clarkson has made signing any point guard VERY low on the priorities list. You could see his progress as a pg clear as day. He got stuck in that position as a sg. But he learned the pg position so fast. He was patient and trying to set people up. And his assist numbers were kind of misleading. He set people up in great scoring opportunities and they didn't hit open shots. I remember one stretch where he got the ball to Boozer 3 possessions in a row where he was wide open. And I mean in a row. Boozer missed all three shots. I think Clarkson passing to let's say Middleton, Kobe, Randle and Towns/Okafor would add 2 assists per game to his total with him doing nothing different. And in today's scoring pg NBA, a pg who can get you 18 and 7 is fantastic.

With the emergence of JC we need to prioritize the wing and center positions. Maybe we can draft a PG with the later picks to experiment and maybe sign a veteran PG. I'd go after Jameer Nelson or Mo Williams before Dragic or Rondon (they are going to be asking for way too much $$$).

I would like to see Mo Williams in a Laker uniform. Perfect short term veteran backup point guard. My ideal draft is Hollis Jefferson with the Houston pick and George Lucas with the first second rounder. Lucas is a young kid, but he has great physical tools. Clarkson and Mo Williams would give us some time to develop him.

I'm really liking Mo at $6-7 mil. He's a vet that can run the offense if needed or play off ball as a shooter, good compliment to Kobe and JC. I like Lucas as well, we get him and develop him slowly, Mo and JC can handle the bulk of the PG mins.

Count me in on the Mo Williams train - perfect veteran PG for us to pick up. I'd be really stoked to get him. Way better than overspending for Dragic or Roundo.

12 mil min...15 tops if the Laker FO tries. To be honest? No. I'd rather develop Clarkson and have him establish chemistry with Randle et all or whoever our high draftee is. Shore up the front court with reinforcements.

If they give dragic offer over 10mil i might quit on lakers and start watching smush parker playing in mongolian league...
Dragic is very good player, but i dont want to give max or long contract to 30year old player...i would rather play clarkson or some other fa player...for much lower salary...
