After watching the new clips, this Mudiay kid is quite intriguing. I like his court vision and ball handling, especially the hesitation moves. However, I expected him to be a bit more explosive. It seems he has a hard time getting past his defender and gets blocked way too often. Given that his shooting is terrible, I don't quite see how he's going to score in the NBA.

He hadn't played in 3 months and I think that had a lot to do with it. He was admittedly heavier than his ideal playing weight and he definitely lacked any sort of conditioning.

Not just that, the NBA rewards guards who can get to the rim with whistles. I'm not sure how closely they call games in China, but I guarantee you no one calls more whistles at the rim than the NBA. I saw at least 3-4 in those highlights that would've been 2 FTs in the NBA. While that's not necessarily a good thing for him right now because his FT% is shoddy, it's something that he can fix. Even if he can't, it's still a better percentage than a PG we're ready to throw an ungodly amount of money at with Rondo.
    FTAs:
    I. Thomas (30th)
    Curry (29th)
    Teague (26th)
    Irving (25th)
    Lowry (22nd)
    DeRozan (21st)
    Wall (18th)
    Lawson (15th)
    Lillard (13th)
    Lou Williams (12th)
    Bledsoe (9th)
    J. Butler (4th)
    Westbrook (3rd)
    Harden (1st)

What impressed me the most from the highlight package was his play out of the P&R. For an 18 year old kid with limited experience, he looked like a natural at it. That's rare.

I just don't see the sense in taking a PG who can't shoot over one who can in today's NBA.

Dang, that's two separate reports that have us taking Mudiay over Towns. I REALLY trust our scouting dept, but I'll be pissed if we have a shot at Towns and instead take Mudiay.

Because of everything else he can do. Defensive potential, ability to get the basket at will, moves the ball well, plays the pick and roll beautifully, bigger, stronger, more athletic, great finisher (when he's healthy/in shpae).

Hmm... Okafor/Towns is a lock for me at 1 and 2... I'm not quite sure which player to take if we had the choice between Mudiay and Johnson. Johnson seems much more mature and developed. But I can also see the huge potential in Mudiay.

If speculating that Clarkson and Randle will eventually hit their offensive ceiling, Johnson may be a better fit. We don't need too many slashers/attackers.

I think it is easier to get a PG in FA, then a quality big. But i would prefer Towns.

Yeah. Mudiay is really going to have to blow everyone away at workouts for that to happen. I think its a moot point though and we're going to end up with whoever is left for the 4th pick.

I hope Mudiay goes 3rd, meaning we'd be choosing between whoever's left between Russell and Towns at 4th. If Towns drops to 4th...:inlove:

Mudiay is interesting, but for me the board is still the same:

    1. Okafor
    2. Towns
    3. Johnson
    4. Mudiay
    5. Russell
    6. Cauley-Stein
    7. Winslow
    8. Kaminsky

Okafor is the better talent, Towns might be the better fit. Johnson will be a stud SG/SF for the next twelve years. He might never make an All-Star game, but he should be in the mix for All-Defense Teams every year for a decade. Mudiay has the high ceiling and strong makeup. He's a project, but he'll be electric in the right environment. Russell strikes me as a 3rd Option on a good team if/when he hits his full potential. That's far from a bad thing. Cauley-Stein is an "A" talent, but does he have an "A" heart? Winslow looks like a solid SF to me and whoever gets him should get a career NBA player. Kaminsky is an underrated player still somehow, I like him a lot.

I think someone will overthink this and grab one of the foreign guys not named Mudiay in the top 3. Just got that feeling. I would love it to be Towns, but I feel like it will be Mudiay or Russell.

If we don't move up or down in the "tank" order our odds of getting the fourth pick aren't actually all that great. With the 4th seed in the lottery you've got the following odds:

    1. 11.9%
    2. 12.6%
    3. 13.3%
    4. 9.9%
    5. 35.1%
    6. 16%
    7. 1.2%

We're far more likely to get 5th place than anything else.

Winslow and Kaminsky seem to be flying below the radar right now. I think they are both going to make their teams very happy.

I wouldn't take Towns over Okafor, but I want Towns over Okafor if that makes sense. He's my new #2
    Okafor
    Towns
    Russell
    Mudiay
    Johnson

It makes sense a little bit. I've had the same kind of thought. With the #1 pick you've got all this pressure to pick Okafor even if you don't love him. With the #2 pick you get Towns and a lot less pressure on your shoulders to "get the pick right".

    Holy ish!
What are the %s for 3rd, if you'd be so kind?

    Yes and no.

Pessimistically: We are more likely to get 5-7 than 1-4!
Optimistically: We have an 82.8% chance at keeping our pick.
