Stole from the WMC thread (this is how you optimism!)

We were a Jimmy Butler away from winning yet another game this season. Man. If only there was an LA native that'd come take our cash to help us win these types of games. He can even bring a friend or two along with him.

Magic slipping Jalen and Fizdale a couple Benjamins under the table because they pumped the crap out of the Lakers tonight pregame. Jalen harping on how stable the franchise is now, how we have two max deals and the fan base is rejuvenated ready for a winner. Fizdale saying the timing is 100% percent right for superstars to come to LA because the young core we have is going to take a huge step next year.

Not use to ESPN pumping up the Lakers brand like that, the FBI might need to probe to see who is getting illegal benefits for this.

Can't say I disagree with them. I think GSW is burning out quicker than expected (Definitely think they win it all this year and favorite for next year), but the Lakers are in prime position to slide in and take over if we get a couple lucky bounces.

$1M fine for both ESPN and the Lakers. Silver assumes that happened.

Great way to re-start post All Star break! Ahead from the start and we never really let up. That's the way to do it! If we get 8 more wins this season I'll be satisfied. 10 more and we're really talking. More than that? Gravy!

That's how you punish them for running Dirk and Barnes in the front court. Nice game from a long break, we have Sac and Atl next, let's keep the momentum going.

He's consistent now? Or ever from deep? But yes, he's an excellent defender.

He's consistent enough to be a threat. As I said earlier, his career average is equal to Kobe's, which is good enough to keep the defense honest and provide spacing. And Julius is no slouch as a defender either.

Randle and Green are completely difference players. This is like the Randle is the next Zack Randolph talk before the draft just because they are both dark chocolate and shoot left handed.

It's true. The Randolph comparisons were weird. Randolph has long arms, a low post game, doesn't move a whole lot. Randle can grab a rebound and lead a break. I always thought the best comp for him was Larry Johnson. Larry added that long-range game later in his career, but when he first came into the league, he was essentially a better version of Randle.

Most of the Rudolph comps came right out of college. Julius spent most of his time in the post in college and nobody really knew what kind of athlete he was until he got to the NBA.

Agreed. I do think he's making things extremely difficult for us from a free agent standpoint. My new dream scenario has us retaining him to be our center of the future and signing PG13 this offseason, then signing Kawhi next offseason. If we have a 6'6" point guard, a 6'7" shooting guard and a 6'9" small forward, we can get away with Ingram and Randle as our "bigs" in today's NBA. Sign Patrick Beverly with the room exception next offseason. I'd like to see our 2019/2020 Lakers be

    c-Randle/Zubac
    pf-Ingram/Kuzma
    sf-PG/Hart
    sg-Leonard/Hart
    pg-Ball/Beverley

That's the 9 man rotation I'd love to see. Tons of versatility. The ability to switch on defense would be amazing.

    My dream is:

    Trade Deng/Ingram/Cavs pick/Zubac for Kawhi.
    Sign LeBron to the max
Convince Randle and George to take a paycut for the short term, probably Randle taking his QO would be really helpful.

    Ball
    George
    Kawhi
    LeBron
    Randle

Sign Lopez with the room exception for much needed size/versatility
Sign Beverley, Wade, and Brewer to minimum deals
    $$$

    Ball/Beverley
    George/Wade
    Kawhi/Hart
    LeBron/Kuzma
    Randle/Lopez/Bryant

Anyone want some of this pipe?

No. With all that freaking talent .... keep Ingram and let LBJ go pound sand chasing rings elsewhere with his oversized head and massive salary.

    Said with a smile respectfully.

No thanks! If I can match or exceed Golden State in talent, why wouldn't i? Pride? Territorialism? I'll just take LeBron, Kawhi, and George and laugh to the Conference Finals for the next 4 years and possibly beyond.

    All respectfully of course.

What I was talking about yesterday for myself and I would assume some others in that fandom is about more than just the ring and getting it at all costs. With the talent you lined up there and substituting Ingram for James we are in the conversation with GS anyway and I would love 100x more seeing Ingram become all that he is going to be with his all star years in a Lakers uniform than any advantage with LBJ being here instead that first year. LBJ over in 3-4 years for us and putting up with all his **** all the while when Ingram is going to be amazing those same years and then coming into his prime.
