Oh but we suck, we won't win any more games. Yeah let's rely on Minny and Orlando to be good and get us our pick, brilliant plan.
I am really just scratching my head at this point. Don't even know where to start. The thought of another season like this one is just killing my spirit over here.
I'm honestly embarrassed by this team. Been a die hard fan since the 80s, seen it all. Never felt so ashamed of their stupidity. Behind the game in analytics, have a Coach who is stuck in the past, and now they are blatantly doing everything they can to make sure they are stuck in the cellar long-term. The pick was the only hope the team has, and they are determined to rip that away from us. The season can't end soon enough.
I see us losing the next 6 games in a row. After that it's the ultimate clash of suck when we play the Knicks.
As I said in the other thread, this franchise just seems to be in denial. Probably still think we can make the playoffs.
Let's say we finish the regular season 23-59 (just so to avoid the horrendous record of 60 losses), would that still be in bottom 5? Somehow I think we cannot be winning more than 18 games if we want to keep the pick.
By the way, don't know if anyone else saw this but Westbrook just got kneed in the head at the end of the OKC game. Literally has a dent in his cheek from it, can't be good. Get ready to play okc without Westbrook or Durant....because that's just the luck the Lakers have had for the last what, 3 years now? Check out @MrMichaelLee's Tweet:
I've been a fan since 89. I've never been so frustrated with the way things are going. WTF are they doing winning games like tonight?
Yeah, we gonna whoop OKC now, without Russ (and yeah, it does seem like a broken cheekbone). Goddamit. There is nothing worse than false pride and useless posturing.
Why in the world are we winning these meaningless games. It's like the team wants to give up the pick to Philly. I understand the whole "losing culture" argument but losing that draft pick would be a bigger slap in the face. A lot of the guys on the roster now might not even be around for next year, plus wouldn't a quicker rebuild mean we go back to winning sooner. We cannot rely on the other tanking teams to be better, what's stopping them from just going into full tank mode and out tank us.
I'm all aboard the tank train, but to be ashamed of this team for winning? That's just absolutely ridiculous. These guys are professionals playing for pride and more importantly, that next contract. I'm frustrated with each loss, but to be embarrassed by winning? In the epic words of Cris Carter: COME ON MAN!
I'm not ashamed of the players for playing hard, it's the lack of reason within the organization. Players are going to play hard, but Byron and the front office should know better. There have been a number of signs that have pointed to this organization being well behind the learning curve, this is just the latest one.
Yeah. I will keep saying it. Just seems like they are in denial about the state of the franchise and what its going to take to rebuild. This isn't rocket science. Play the young guys. Sit the vets.
Look -- I am all for our young guys playing hard. But our coach should have them practice some sets, if those sets even exist (!): work on freeing someone up for a corner 3, ten times in a row. Sacre added that mid-range jumper -- give it to him few times in a row, or alternate simple sets. Treat it like a hard practice against an actual NBA team. Get rid of Hill and Lin at the deadline. Things like that. In this way, you have young guys who play hard and don't have to miss on purpose, yet you are basically doing "extended practice". If they lose, it's still good for the franchise and beneficial for our players we intend to keep. If someone gets ridiculously hot in the first half, let them rest in the second. Also, Tarik needs to play. And do some scouting, invite some D-League guys and see if you can find a gem. See, all useful things without literally telling players to miss shots.
Scott's sets suck. He's a horrible coach. I don't even care about the winning; if he wasn't trying to tank and all of these decisions over the year were his which I'd kind of guess were, he needs to be dumped after Kobe retires; this is just awful, awful, basketball to watch. Not that we care this year because of the tanking, but I just don't buy, 'oh, he's tanking,' or 'oh, he's not running his whole playbook because we suck,' that don't fly anymore. He's trying to win and he's been trying to win all season. The F.O. is responsible for bringing this clown, and I'm disappointed.
Yeah I don't get it anymore. All of those small sneaky moves Byron was doing earlier in the year like subbing guys out who were hot and putting in guys who hadn't played in a while he's stopped doing it. So what the ****? Are you tanking or not? I'm all for integrity, but you need to pick a lane here.
