Every game that can affect our tanking "success" this year should be discussed here. For example: the Sixers are playing Washington at home. They have a small lead in the 1st quarter, but I'm pretty sure I know how this is going to end. Still, it might be interesting. Our main "opponent" is obviously Minnesota. They have a horrific schedule, but they are probably slightly better then us. They have 13 wins, we have 15. They are also playing tonight, against Chicago. Finally, New York. I think they are hopeless. They are playing Detroit tonight. Are you ready?
Let's go Minnesota! I've caught a few of their games lately and they actually are a fun team to watch. Not gonna lie, kinda jealous that they have Wiggins, Dieng, LaVine, Rubio, plus a top pick this summer to build around. Also, Wiggins makes me really miss seeing Randle out on the floor for the Lakers. Wish we were seeing him out there running with Clarkson. Oh, and we need to include Orlando too...don't want to get any closer to them, although they have the Hawks tonight, not likely to win that one.
Quick update: Philly is winning right now in the 4th. NY is pretty much tied with Detroit in the 3rd. Minny is losing by 7 at halftime. Update#2: Sixers win! NY took the lead against Detroit in the 4th. Minny tied in the 3rd.
I think we control our own destiny as it pertains to the 2 seed...err...cellar. (Tough to break old habits). Can't ask for anything more than that!
Wow, the Wizards really like the Lakers. They lost to the Wolves and now the Sixers. Tanks Washington!
I'm starting to get a little worried about Denver. They are looking real good lately. And by good I mean...well, you know what I mean.
Agreed, they are going to lose tonight in Utah's bounce back game (from losing to us) and B. Shaw is benching Faried for no apparent reason. This is why every single win is a step back for the Lakers.
I'll be honest. The Knicks are a lost cause. We aren't catching them. They are too bad and too far in front. They're like Philly last season. Just too much ground to make up.
This is great for us. One of our top competitors won, Minny is still looking decent, NY forced OT. Good things are happening here.
NY really fighting for the win. We might not catch them, but that's alright. Any wins for them is a good thing. Minny still alive in the 4th.
http://www.dailynews.com/sports/20150226/byron-scott-lakers-not-trying-to-tank I'm assuming everyone saw this, but apparently Byron saw posts on Instagram complaining about the last two wins and got mad. Says we are going to try to win every game regardless of the pick. I'm really hoping he just has to act that way publicly though, because at this point even he has to admit that the only thing the team is playing for right now is the pick. It would be so deflating to the fan base if the Lakers went on a run and ended up losing this pick.
