We couldn't afford both without giving up Randle or Clarkson.

Well we'd probably have to give up a package centered around Randle or Clarkson for Love. And I'm OK with that.

You'd prefer no cap space available until under the gun come summer and having Moz PLUS Deng still on the books and possibly having not gotten Kuzma? With no Hart if we could have? Really?

That Roberson injury is going to be brutal for OKC and their defense..particularly George. Seems like BI could be that dude for you Paul.

Also IT finally speaks and he ain't happy about how a potential snitch on the team has made him look bad in the media. He makes alot of strong points, but the Cavs turmoil is real.

    You'd trade Randle for Love?

With a heavy heart, yes, I would trade Randle for Love.

I had my doubts earlier this season, but Kuzma has proven to me he is our future at PF, which means Randle would need to be relegated to a full-time C or a backup PF/C. I think Love is a better fit at both those roles, and the shooting of George + Ingram + Kuzma + Love in the starting lineup would open up the game for Lonzo.

But I'd try to give up Clarkson first.

Who's guarding the Big Boys that we could then afford who doesn't suck on offense? Not that Randle is a prototypical 5. But neither Love, nor George, nor the King himself are going to. And we still need a real rim protector. Zubac? Doubtful. Bryant? Doubtful. But at least Julius really gets us in the game in that regard.

    Interesting.

Somehow we've switched and I wouldn't make that move. :D

Love doesn't provide the same kind of versatility of Julius. The only way I do this is if we're going all in on Love/Lopez as our front court. Love is even less of a center than Julius so if we go to a short lineup, I'd prefer Julius...

Tough call though. I think Love would be a great PF fit for Lonzo and with Lopez too. I also don't want to pay him that much.

Also Kevin Love is about to hit 30 years old while Julius is barely 23 years old (just starting to scratch the surface of his potential) I'd take Randle over Love everyday and twice on Tuesdays

Neither would I. Love cant play center, not as well as Julius, and Kuzma is our stretch 4

Plus we’ve already met our quota.

Remember, we get half credit for LSC also.

Forgot to mention that if they want Julius I would demand the Nets pick as well btw :)

While I agree that Julius is the more versatile defender (on switches), I'm not sure I agree that Love is less of a center.

Love is definitely the better rebounder and better outlet passer which gives us quite possibly the two best fast-break initiators (with Lonzo) in the league.

And we know Love is good enough on offense to be a 1st option on most teams..... well at least on a 40 win team.

He can hit the 3 for sure, and help spread the floor, but both can be overpowered and abused by quality centers.

    And he has championship experience

But I’m still leaning toward Randle due to age, strength, ceiling, and tenacity.

The pick certainly changes things. I'm sure the Cavs wouldn't do it (they wouldn't trade it for George at one point), but the for sake of conversation that makes more sense. The Cavs would probably push their own pick instead and that move might more tenable for them.

The things that I would love for Love compared to Julius are his offensive skill set and his passing ability. He'd be a great fit for those reasons. However, if we made that move, we'd have to have a more traditional defense. We couldn't go to our switch everything mantra (not inherently negative). The Cavs tried Love at Center and they've been really struggling defensively I don't think those things are unrelated.

    Who is CyberX?

Nevermind, I looked it up. What's this guy's success rate? I saw an old thread where he predicted the Lakers would get Wade/Love at one point a couple years ago.

He also claimed the Rockets were hoping the Lakers would buy out Lopez which I don't see as a possibility.
