Ok, I know it's a bit weird for me to bump the optimism thread after such a frustrating loss, but . . . That was pretty impressive last night. We were playing Houston in their house again after ruining their 13 game win streak last time and them certainly wanting revenge. They put up 44 points on us in the first quarter!! And we really showed something by playing that hard defense in the second spurred on by Bogut, Nance and Brewer to cut that lead and then we had a double digit lead on them in the third going into the fourth. With a team that can shoot as they can, no lead is really big enough and when the striped ones started gifting charity stripe sessions to Harden there wasn't a lot we could do about it. We took it to 2 OT's in their house without Lonzo Ball. It was a really good game and just so irritating that we couldn't get that W. But I'll take that. I expected a 20 point loss to be honest, and I don't think many if any of us here predicted that we might get a win. Good showing.

I think we're a really bad match-up for Houston and to be honest I'm not that impressed with Chris Paul anymore. Houston (or whoever) is going to hate paying him big money in a couple years.

I'd love to play Houston in the Playoffs if we could rattle off 20 wins in a row. ;)

Chris Paul looks doughy to me. On a Magic Johnson team you'd call him FAT. He doesn't seem to move all that well any more. I remember when he was with New Orleans they were writing things about his knees.

I don’t see him getting a max contract, or at least I wouldn’t authorize it.

not with his mileage. His pushing off without getting called for offensive fouls was impressive though. He's been working on his old man game for 10 years already.

We could still go down lower and that is frightening.

    Optimism: ummm we fought back?

We got f***ED by the schedule makers. Yeah, give anybody the Cavs, Warriors twice, rockets twice, twolves twice, blazers, grizzlies and clippers in a 2 week stretch and see how they do.

I'm just pissed that now we're injured and our team is losing confidence to the point where we'll probably lose to anybody now

We actually have already played the Warriors and Rockets thrice. I mean it's insanity to do that to a young team.

But more importantly we've been hit by a series of injuries, arrests, and locker room dissidence that's going to hurt any team. I understand this is all very frustrating, but you take three starters from any team in the league besides maybe San Antonio and Golden State, and that team is going to struggle. My goodness it's like people around here prefer to think the team is in shambles instead of just recognizing the un-winnable spot we're in right now. We're giving decent minutes to G-League players and wondering why we're getting beat like a G-League team? We're f***ing hurt! Let us heal up. Let us get back in a rhythm. We'll be okay.

I have a bet ongoing with my 3 cousins whose team has the best record after the season, the odds being Clippers (-15) Kings (+5) Hornets (even) and my Lakers (+3). At least their teams are sucking enough for me to be still in the game lol

I don't mind these losses. It's the ones we should have won, but our idiot of a coach sabotaged us in that get me mad.

We had some cool moments last night. Team had to play through some fatigue, so you saw who was game. Zubac got some run, so we saw where he was at. Some of the young guys continue to have great moments, but it will take awhile to string them together consistently for 48 minutes to turn the effort into wins. Prior seasons would have seen a team quit down 16-0 or whatever it was. These guys kept clawing back and got it down to 6 before a final run saw them falling apart.

But seriously, after a double OT loss missing 3 starters, and facing top talent like Wiggins, KAT, Jimmy Butler, Crawford, etc, it was a respectable effort. Minnesota is 24-12 or whatever for a reason. They are solid, and a 4 seed in the top heavy West.

I'm guessing these are wins next year or year after, but you have to expect we'll lose most close games due to inexperience and youth down the stretch. It just is what it is.

    :This:

We surpassed any kind of expectations I had for this road trip by a lot actually. Taking the Rockets to 2OT on their court and fighting through a back to back in Minn is no joke (it was a closer game than the score would have you believe). I wasn't even going to watch these games because we struggle so much without Lonzo setting the table for everyone. But wow, Ennis and Hart really showed something in this stretch and Randle demonstrated once and for all that a 20 minutes a game cap this year was idiotic. Our guys are playing hard.

Hopefully Zo can come back soon. This road trip showed me just how useless KCP and Slowpez are. I don't care to see either of those guys going forward. Hopefully we can limit THEIR minutes now and let guys like Randle and Hart play a lot more. I'd say trade them but their expiring contracts are so important for us and of course we don't want to anger the KANG's agent.
