That'll fix the team! Byron Scott, coaching extraordinaire! RT @SerenaWinters: Byron: "I might change the whole starting 5. I'm serious."

He's a tanking master. Salute to our Tank Commander.

Boozer has been nothing but a pro for us and hasn't said crap about all the losing and tanking lineups. If you aren't going to play him, wasting one of his few good years left like this is a bad look. If he's not in our long term plans, buy the guy out/waive him. He gets to sign with a playoff team, we get to tank better, win-win. Sometimes Byron's tough-guy act is really annoying, not really how the league works anymore. Or ever? This isn't college, you coach pro grown men a little different.

Byron is always a douche when it comes to stuff like sitting players, changing lineups, etc.

I didn't tell Boozer he wasn't playing, so if he's upset, I don't really care.

Really dude? Grow up and drop a set and talk to your players about what you are doing. That's just childish right there.

Im still not sure he's just clueless. If any other Lakers coach pulled/talked ish like that, he would be eaten alive. By the fans, by the media... and by Earvin Johnson.

Byron's tough guy act has to be wearing thin on guys. Between him and Kobe I am wondering who the "good cop" is that comes in and builds guys up.

I am also thinking he just benched Boozer on a whim with no real thought about it beforehand. Thats probably why he didnt say anything to him.

Our best bet at this point is to hope for more Minnesota victories. We aren't likely to catch Philly or NY now, and unfortunately we have three more games against those two teams. Going to be insanely difficult to lose those ones...what a backwards Lakers world we live in right now. Oh well, on with the tank!

No. we just have to outtank Philly by giving them both games. No more wins.

Someone prior to Philly has to get the flu and give it to everyone. Then equally creative the 2nd game. No way in hell you can say it to the team that you need the loss. Eff Philly for shamelessly doing this years on end.

But we're the Lakers. When called upon to rise to the competitive occasion I have faith.

We aren't losing those games to Philly now that they have our pick. They are pro at tanking. If they could actually forfeit both games I believe they would.

So darned true. They are truly the tankmasters. We are amateurs in this game.

If Scott wants to change the starting line-up, I say some of us volunteer to play... Who's up for it? >:) What's Jack Haley up to nowadays? Hod Rod Hundley? Dancing Barry?

Philly waives Kirilenko... Maybe they'll sign Fred "Mad Dog" Carter to take his place.

Telling you.... let him "try" his a** off. Go with first serious NBA "stretch 5" concept and keep feeding Rob. 10-15 attempts plus all kinds of post feeds to let him "build up his trade value" by showcasing his back to the basket >> to beyond the 3 point circle offensive repertoire. [IMG]

All said in good fun toward Rob. For whatever it is worth he has gotten better every year and is a strong body in there who works hard. Even drops shots through the hoop when he's feeling it.

"Emplay" Eric Pincus knows what's up and at stake.

If Lakers lose out, they're guaranteed a 2015 first-round pick

Lakers drop seventh consecutive game, 114-105 to Nets

The Lakers temporarily control their own destiny, in that they can lock in a top-five pick in the 2015 NBA draft if they lose all 28 of their remaining games.

Only the New York Knicks (10-44), Philadelphia 76ers (12-42) and Timberwolves are "ahead" of the Lakers in the draft lottery standings.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak discusses the trade deadline, tanking and more

Because the Lakers traded their 2015 first-round pick to the Phoenix Suns (for Steve Nash), which has since been conveyed by the Suns to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Lakers only keep their selection if they get through the draft lottery with a top-five selection.

If the Lakers finish sixth or lower, the selection goes to Philadelphia and the Lakers have nothing to show for what has been their second straight disappointing season. A top-five selection delays the obligation to the Sixers a year, but with top-three protection in 2016.
Since the Lakers play the Wolves and Sixers twice apiece, 35 straight losses (including the current seven-game losing streak) would guarantee that Minnesota and Philadelphia finish the season with at least one more win than the Lakers.

The Lakers may not catch the Knicks, who they only play one time before the end of the year, but the Lakers are guaranteed a top-five selection as long as they have a bottom-two record.

Lakers' Jordan Clarkson getting chance to prove he can be a starter

The odds (96.0%) are still high the Lakers keep their pick if they're third-worst, but where the team sits in 27th-place overall, they have a 17.2% chance of falling to six or seven and losing their pick outright.

While it's unlikely the Lakers lose 35 in a row, the Sixers, Wolves and Knicks are likely to win games here and there as well. The Knicks and Sixers play each other twice before the end of the season.

Both General Manager Mitch Kupchak and Coach Byron Scott maintain the team is trying to win games each and every time they step on the court.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic (18-39) have a five-win advantage in the standings over the Lakers. If the Lakers catch Orlando in the win column, their lottery odds of staying in the top-five shrink to just 55.2%.

Losing out on the pick this summer would be devastating to the franchise.

Additionally, if the Lakers have the second-worst overall record in the NBA, they have a 19.9% chance at landing the first overall pick.

Some of the top names in the draft include Duke center Jahlil Okafor, Kentucky forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns and center Willie Cauley-Stein, Ohio State combo guard D'Angelo Russell and Arizona's State small forward Stanley Johnson. Point guard prospect Emmanuel Mudiay is playing overseas in China.

The Lakers return to the court on Sunday night at Staples Center, hosting the Boston C Bags (20-32).

^Yes, but how realistic is it to not win a single game for the rest of the season? Not happening...

Considering that Byron has went on a 26 game losing streak before, I guess we could try to surpass it. :)

Going to be a tough day for the tank, especially now that Sullinger is out. Talent-wise the C Bags are nearly as bad as the Lakers, although Isaiah Thomas will probably have a big day.
