How would we fit Deng's rotund *** in the bed of a truck?

The Pelicans are unlikely to trade Cousins unless they fall off the deep end. He's their attempt at keeping The Brow satisfied.

Given his team's success this season though, I'm beginning to come around on him as a Laker.

dj part is pipe, dmc/pg is doable if nop n okc cont to lose n those 2 guys become disgruntled. hell we already know dmc made a comment that he regrets not signing of on getting traded to us because he was loyal to Sac

Who knows? If you're the Pelicans though, you don't have much choice. If you trade him, you admit that you're not good enough which could push Davis out the door. They gave pretty good money to Solomon Hill and E'twaune Moore so they're not likely to be able to attract FAs.

It might be prudent to sell, but right now they're in the playoffs. If they're unlikely to be in the playoff mix by the deadline, that's something to revisit.

If we shipped Nance with Deng and gave up 2 future firsts....I'd honestly be pissed. We don't HAVE to do that. Why aren't we just stretching Deng over 11 years to where his cap hit is only 3M a year? That'll give us the cap room we need and then we don't have to dump Nance and 2 future firsts.

I'm tired of us throwing good money after bad. We better not do something stupid like this. We need to start collecting picks not giving them away. It's time we become more like the C Bags front office and less like the Knicks front office.

Because that's not how stretching works.

In order to get rid of Deng, we can waive him next summer (that's the same as stretching him). To do that means changing his 2 years into 5 years for the same amount of money. Deng will be owed 36.81 million next summer over two years. That turns into 7.362 million for five seasons. That's a large sum of dead money for five years.

I'm talking about the article that eric pincus wrote where the Lakers can extend and stretch Deng over 11 years at 3M per year...

We need to be doing THAT instead of getting rid of valuable assets again.

To do that would take Deng's cooperation. He would have to approve signing an extension in a situation that's less than ideal. Who knows if he's willing to do that?

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just saying it won't be easy. If it takes some assets to get rid of Deng, that's Mitch and Jim's fault more than anyone else's.

if it helps us get LeBron and PG or LeBron, PG and Cousins or some combination of those 3 plus keeping Randle/Clarkson while getting rid of Deng? Yes. I do want 3M of dead space for 11 years.

First of all it would be 3.6M over 11 years, IF (a huge "if" at that), Deng agrees to a 3 year extension paying him 3 million additional dollars bringing his complete contract at the end of this year to 40M being paid over 5 years as opposed to $37M over 2 years. Nothing against Pincus, but its more of a fluff piece rather than anything that has legitimate merit behind it.

Plus I'm not sure if 3.6M in dead cap over the next 11 years is easier to stomach than 7.4M over 5 years. Orrrrrr how about, 4.8M over 3 years?

By trading for Robin Lopez and stretching his 14.4M expiring deal over the next 3 years. Or better yet, since it is an expiring deal next season, we can hold onto it and deal it for a disgruntled star to pair with Brony and Georgie at next season's deadline.

Jules, Zu, Deng and future 1st and/or 2nd for Niko and RoLo. I would consider Jules RFA status and Zu as manageable young assets....uh, but the price is Deng of course haha. Also Chicago is a great market and Jules would flourish out East. You can try to replace Jules with JC in this package, but I'm pretty sure the Bulls wouldn't go for it since they have Holiday and LaVine to take up those minutes. (Btw, Chicago also has a 15.3M Butler trade exception at their disposal. That would be interesting to take on as well in order to move salary without taking anything back.)

Now take Niko (who has a team option) and their pick of JC or RoLo (if they're interested even with Adams on the roster) and move them to OKC for Georgie. Have George agree to opt into his player option of 21M and you still have around 42M - 44M to throw at LaBron with plenty room to spare.

Now Niko can't get traded till Jan. 15, which is why the Bulls brought him in and are trying to highlight him these last 2 games playing along Portis, rather than leaving him at home. Also lets not forget that the trade deadline has been moved up this season to Feb. 8th and that gives Presti roughly 8 weeks from now to consider what he can get for George before he walks this summer.

And that is what will happen fam. George ain't staying there cause it looks like he ain't having fun there. They could be winning right now and it won't matter cause George is relegated to playing a style that is not catered to how he wants to play. Presti should be open to moving George by the deadline and no team will give up assets for a 2 month rental of George, unless they're sure he will reup with them. Cleveland could make a move, but will they give up that Brooklyn 1st rounder knowing that both Brony and George can bounce this summer?

Presti would get the best assets for George by dealing him to us since we will give up assets to get a guy that we know will reup with us. Also Presti has already gotten his mission accomplished by having Russ re-up with the Thunder, so there ain't no shame in dealing George for some value in return.

Lastly, lets not ignore that this OKC team is no good, so why would Clay Bennett pay a whopping $250+M in team salary and luxury taxes to keep this roster together? Also, seeing how Oladipo, Durant and Harden are all flourishing without Russ, George has to know that the grass is greener here in LA even without Russ. Pair that with Durant using a ghost account to shade the f*** out of Donovan and now with Oladipo playing well away from Russ in Indy, maybe the coaching is also a problem.
