If they want to make the playoffs that is a bad package. Another PG, out for the year and over the hill+2 1 rounders in the 20...

But the package itself is better than every other alternative. The only other offers on Dragic's list have been garbage from LA and NY which wouldn't help them either. Miami makes the most sense to keep Dragic away from LA and still get some usable assets in return.

    So, you'd rather get nothing?

I just don't see Dragic being happy with that package and that's if the Heat move Cole to Detroit (one of the rumors circulating). Even though that's a team on his list, how is that situation any better than the logjam in Phoenix? And I don't see it magically clearing up this summer. That's a lot for Riley to rent Dragic for when they're not a real playoff team and I can't fathom him staying there -- taking his talents to either NY or LA this summer.

    Shhhhhhhhh JSM. Shhhhhhh...

Let these guys mess around at the deadline and the Lakers secure their pick. Then we take our shot at Dragic in the summer. If we absolutely must... we can break the bank for him. If not, all the better. Dragic wants a team to run to himself, well we've got that for him. He wants cash, we got that too. This is a great fit for him and he knows it. We've got the history and the draw that NY doesn't have.

If we MUST we can pay him that max 4 year deal and we can roll into next season with a rock-solid, young cast. Either way, it feels like there's a great shot that our rebuild takes a big step forward this summer.

Who's the PG in Miami? Chalmers, the rookie Napier? Dragic is better than both of them and would start right away; he'd make a potent combination with Chris Bosh who is also going to be there for the foreseeable future. So, you now have two pieces to build around, and more importantly, two pieces you could use to recruit other player in Free Agency. They do lose some of their flexibility getting rid of 2 first round picks but Riley is very smart with personnel and maneuvering/being creative to get his teams to be competitive.

Yup. I wouldn't be mad at all if he went there. I love Riley too damn much. Disappointed he didn't come here, but at least glad he'd be in a good situation if he does end up there...

Thank you. Now someone else can pay him 20 million and regret it later.

He is better than both of them, but they're not going to abandon playing Chalmers. He's a 30 MPG player right now. Either way it cuts into how much Dragic wants to handle the ball. Whereas we don't have anything remotely close to a 30 minute a game PG. Then you factor in Wade and how much he'll want to control the ball. Yes, we have Kobe but ZERO PG issue.

There goes our FA target...he's staying in Miami. Bird Rights, Riles, Good Coach, another All-Start, and its Miami. Good for Riley.

I see him coming to LA if we offer a competitive contract to him this summer. I'm 100% down with that.
