Ended up playing it most of yesterday. Definitely engrossing. I've just been in the initial areas doing side quests and I'm already getting hints of the Game of Thrones comparisons that intrigued me to begin with. Rich history and lore, nuanced characters, morality that isn't black and white. Now I just gotta figure out the gameplay. I suck at combat!
I'm primarily a PC gamer and I've been enjoying Player Unknown Battlegrounds. You parachute onto a giant island map with 99 other players and try to be the last alive.. it's a lot of fun and extremely competitive.
Haven't been around for a while but recently completed Horizon Zero Dawn, amazing game, story is gripping, gameplay is simple but fun, visuals are amazing. Moved on to MGS 5 and Dishonored remastered, both amazing so far (only about 5 hours in on each).
I watched a video of someone playing the first 30 minutes of the story mode and it looked great. Awesome soundtrack/music too.
Cuphead looks like a blast. I'm probably gonna pick it up when I get my Xbox One X. Pretty excited to be re-joining the Xbox family. Horizon and MGS V are two of my favorite games this generation. Kou, have you played the previous Metal Gear games? Currently, I've stopped playing The Witcher. Just not in the mood for such a dense RPG. Been going the casual route instead. Most of my gaming has been 2k and FIFA on my Switch in handheld mode while watching Office reruns on my TV in the background.
It's a great game, but damn, it's old school hard. Like not Dark Souls hard, but still, it's really hard. The boss battle designs are fantastic. Very 1930s style. The nailed the look
It's crazy hard. If you go to the Cuphead subreddit, you get a lot of "That boss? F-- that boss!" It's one of those games where if you get hit too early in the fight, you might as well just pause it and start over. As far as the look, they used actual drawings to animate it. https://www.inverse.com/article/36647-xbox-one-cuphead-animation I remember when the first look premiered a couple years ago. I wondered what was taking so long to finish. Then I read they hand drew 120,000 frames. Crazy!
Yeah I've completed all the previous MGS games, the depth in them is great, it's a shame this isn't goi g to be the last one as I've enjoyed all of them (even mgs 2 after they basically Rick roll you by playing as snake at the start and then you continue as raiden) Only 13% through this one ATM, because as per usual I've been side tracked by building up mother base and side missions!
I was playing NBA 2k18 on PS4, but after realizing my overall temperament and quality of life is better off without it, i recently deleted the game from my console. I found it either too easy or too ridiculously stupid when you go up to HoF difficulty. I had 2k17 so it wasn't like i was away from the franchise for a while. The new edition has moments that are really fluid and lifelike, but overall I'd say it's the most frustrating game I've ever played.
Kind of wanted to die tonight on that dumb flower boss in Cuphead...like actually die...in real life. I thought I was doing good. Finished 4 levels/missions in an hour then ran into him. He's still standing.
It's really about figuring out each individual's multiple ways to hit you. While that sounds like every other video game, in Cuphead each boss has like 8 -10 different ways to attack you, usually employing a few of those ways at the same time. I have a buddy at work who is playing with someone at the simple level. He says having a second person really helps. My wife is dreadful at the easiest of video games, so I'm trying to do this thing solo...and I refuse to drop the difficulty.
Picked up the new Call of Duty. So far so fun. No jet packs or super jumps. Just good old WW2 action. They added a mode similar to Battlefield called War.
Yes, and screw them and their micro-transactions. EA is probably the greediest company in the industry, they’ve been doing this for years. Hell, they killed off the aweome NFL 2K series way back by getting an exclusive deal with the NFL because they didn’t like the competition. They don’t get my money, if I buy any of their games it’s used. Nobody has been worse at this than Bungie though. Destiny wasn’t a game, it was more like a vending machine.
I gave this a try and downloaded it Monday night.. played it a few hours since, my highest score is 212 so far. It's oddly addictive for a simple app game.
