When was the last time he was any good? I remember some hype around him for about a year but he's apparently regressed quite a bit. Not looking at stats just what I've heard/read.

I haven't seen him much at all, so I'm just looking at stats :)

6'11, 22 year olds don't grow on trees, and he's a relative bargain at like half Hill's salary. He has good growth in terms of stats:
    Pts-reb
    4.6-4.2
    7.2-4.3
    12.3-7.5
    13.8-7.8

    And per 36:
    Pts-reb
    12.5-11.5
    16.9-10.2
    16.6-10.1
    18.4-10.4

Given that we have to make other decisions at C, however, it might not be a good time for us to sink 5M a year into a player.

Kanter is due for a new contract after this season. No need to trade for a big, we could just buy in the offseason (If we wanted him). Especially when the price will likely be a 1st rounder.

He's good, but watching him play his head isn't always in the game. He's not the brightest bulb around as far as basketball IQ. I don't know what it would take to get him, but I'd probably pass.

Hmmm. Must've just been the commentators expressing their opinions during the game I was watching. How do those numbers compare to Hill? Per 36 looks pretty enticing and at 22 he must have potential for sig. improvement. He is a big dude. Have to start watching him more.

    Hill:

    per game
    5.2/3.7 (age 22)
    5.6/4.3
    5.0/4.8
6.7/5.7 (age 25 - first full season in LA)
    9.7/7.4
    12.3/8.0

    per 36
    14.1/10.1
    13.0/9.8
    12.7/12.2
    15.2/13.0
    16.7/12.8
    15.8/10.3

He's five years younger than Hill, scores better, but Hill is a better rebounder. Hill might be a better defender, mind you. I don't know the dude's game.

First Amare gets bought out and now Larry Sanders, not good for Jordan Hill's trade value. I still think the Lakers need to do whatever they can to move at least a few of Hill, Lin, and Young (if he has any value). Minny and New York have both made or are about to make tank moves and the Lakers need to keep pace. A buyout of Boozer would also help tremendously, as it would remove a productive player from the roster and free up minutes at the 4 for Ryan Kelly.

At this point I see them holding on to Hill until the off-season probably and seeing if maybe they can flip him with another asset (the Hou pick) for something (maybe move up the draft). As things are now I just don't know that anyone would make the move for him and I definitely doubt anyone would give up a pick for him.

While I agree with that concept that bigs hitting the market is bad for Hill's value, that's not the case with those two. Amare does actually help Hill's value. He's all but a lock to go to Dallas. Dallas has no interest in Hill. The teams that miss out on Amare have one less option now (Clippers, Suns, Spurs, Warriors, Blazers, Raptors). With Sanders, I'd be shocked if he's on another roster this year. He has a lot of personal issues he has to work through first before a team takes a chance on someone who may not have interest to play ball any longer.

Don't think Hill has much value unless it's being swapped for another big on a longer contract. Brook Lopez or Taj Gibson for example. I would trade him for Taj in a heartbeat. Also wonder if we could be in the running to sign Sanders? Can't offer him a contender, but we can offer a starting job, good weather/great nightlife, good medical weed, a long list of mentors. He has his issues sure, but he's 1 of the better young bigs in the league.

Unfortunately Hill's deal being a team option instead of non-guaranteed really hurts his trade value due to the no trade clause it gives him. Still hopeful they can find a taker though. He's got $9 million on the line and could potentially kill the tank like Swaggy did last year if he plays too well.

As for Sanders, he couldn't stay out of trouble in MIL, LA would kill him. So much to get distracted by. Worth a shot because of his potential, especially long term as a defender next to Randle, but I don't think LA would be a good environment for him.

Denver is having a fire sale, but they're not moving Ty or Faried unless they get a great deal.
