Butler to go along with a top 5 pick? That would be the perfect way to wake up from the current nightmare that is our team. Can't see it happening, but I will pray...
If this guy comes to LA.. i'm gonna be the happiest man alive. Kobe ,Butler ,Randle ,Draft Pick. so much fun to dream.
Man ... this guy is one of my favorite players in the league. Hard working, no nonsense guy. Having him and Kobe teaching him a few tricks in his last season would set us up perfectly for the future along with a top 5 pick and maybe snatch a good point guard. But this is too good do be somehow possible. The Bulls would be so stupid not to match anything. But as they might let go of Thibs (which is even as stupid) maybe the do something like that too who knows?!
me likey the butler. can't imagine Chicago letting him walk under any circumstances, but if they do, I hope the lakers are the beneficiary.
Can the Bulls with all of they're players really can match any offer we make? to me if the Bulls don't make it this season, it's not gonna happen at all with this team. Rose and noah are the core of the team. and Gasol is there to stay. Butler could make a Harden move and get a front row position in another team. The bad thing for us is that Butler's character is different. he is not considering himself as a star who need to get payed big money.

This is a guy you go all out on him. you don't even have to think about how much money you have left. and I can see Durant signing here in 2016 with this roster.
I agree! The problem is that the FO seems to apply this NBA 2K theory of just clear the books and get a guy and THEN build the rest of the roster. Issue being that in NBA 2K the player will just sign if you offer the most money, no questions asked. Real players, superstar players want a ready made team that they can compete with the second they hit the floor for training camp. Getting a guy like KD is a huge piece, but it HAS to be the LAST piece otherwise why should he come here?
The dude has skills, that's for sure. And he ain't no chump, either. A year under Kobe learning and then he gets to take over the reigns of the franchise? I'd be happy to give it a shot.
Mitch has said he doesn't like going after RFA because you have to sit and wait for them to make up their mind. If they choose you, great. If not though, you may have lost out on other FAs and ended up with nothing. I would be absolutely shocked if Chicago didn't match a max offer to Jimmy Butler. He's turned into a two-way player, young, fairly athletic. These guys don't grow on trees. I know Chicago doesn't usually spend much, but I just don't see them passing on this.
I know Mitch said he doesn't like waiting to see if offers get matched for RFA's, but I'm not sure that will be the case this summer. You don't have the Lebron/Melo/Bosh level FA's available this summer, tying up $ for a few days/a week to possibly get a young stud like Butler might be worth it this summer because there aren't many big FA's to lose out on. Outside of LMA, Butler is probably the player I'd most want us to offer the max. He's been able to put up his #'s next to Pau & Rose so I have no question he could continue it here, & it's well known he's 1 of the best defenders in the league. If we land Butler I'm going to feel great about our future.
Oh I'm with you. I think SG/SF is a position of low depth when it comes to really talented players. There's a lot of PGs out there. I think it makes more sense to go get a SG/SF type if we can. I'm all on board for Wes because I think he'll be cheaper than Butler, but I wouldn't be upset about Butler either. Kennedy speculates giving Butler a Parsons type of deal, but I think it's way more likely the Lakers would just offer him the max if they were that interested in him. We're all about paying players these days, that's our schtick. His max would be roughly 15.8 million dollars. Kobe- 25 Butler- 16.6 Young- 5.2 Top 5 Pick- 4.6 Randle- 3.1 Kelly- 1.7 20s Pick- 1 Clarkson- 0.8 Black- 0.8 Sacre- 0.8 2nd Round- 0.7 Cap Holds- 1 - 61.3 million We'd still have a few million left to spend. I would probably use it to try to bring back Ellington and Davis. Ellington with BAE if we can and Davis with whatever cash we have before the cap. Russell/Clarkson Kobe/Ellington/Vaughn Butler/Young Randle/Black/Kelly Davis/Sacre/Dakari Johnson Eh? Pretty okay rebuild.
even though the C position is scary and the PG is young (maybe Ronny Price somehow?).. it's a first round team. which is a good start.

Once you use cap space to sign players, you dont have exceptions, only vet minimum, as far as i understand the CBA.
I'd be happy with that roster posted by RealDeal. The center position needs some bolstering though and maybe a veteran PG as well.
