depending on who we draft. point guard rookie Mudiay or Russell, I would like to get a legit 7 footer maybe both the Lopez twins or Hibbert. Okafor or Towns, a point guard like Knight, Jackson or last resort Dragic depending on the price.

I like this idea, Trodgers. I wasn't on it before you mentioned it, but now that I think about it, we need all the help on wing we could get; we need wing help in the worst way and adding another one of those guys would help in areas of need. I'd even draft another wing in the draft if I had the chance. After Kobe's 3rd consecutive injury, we need wings to compensate if he goes out again for any extended period of time.

I'll the take the liberty of adding another wing that I think we should pursue; Aaron Affalo. Older, but a a much needed veteran presence who could be a nice 2 way player next to Kobe and could play either SG or SF in a pinch and come in and immediately start.

Wings are supposed to be easy to find, or at least that used to be conventional wisdom. We're light on talent there, and either of those guys is better than Nick. Afflalo is good, too, but I'm thinking he's going to be in the higher price range. Or at least that was the rumor.

He could be going for more, and he's probably out of reach; I've just always liked him skillset. Given his age, though, this could be the last contract he gets, and he'll be looking to get paid.

By the way, another wing that I heard mentioned on another board is Khris MIddleton; Interesting. I seen him kill us last game, and I liked him. He's shooting well and his stats are pretty good; anybody seen him play; with Milwaukee's impending contract extension toward Knight, Middleton might be a worthy target.

    Grab Dragic, Middleton, top 5 pick;

    Dragic ($13 million)/Clarkson($845K)/Price(league min)
    Kobe ($25 million)/Ellington($2 million)/Clarkson
    Middleton (?)/Young($5million)/Hollis-Jefferson(rookie deal)
    Randle($2,997,360)/Kelly($1.65million)/Tarik
    Towns(Rookie Deal)/Tarik($845k)/Sacre($981,348)

I got bored at work. Umm, I don't know how much Middleton is getting, but this is what I came up with; you could criticize all you want...hahahahaha.

Oh no thanks to Gerald Green. I know he's talented, but we passed before and we should pass again. The guy has the brain of a stegosaurus.

Danny Green is interesting. Wes is better than him and I like Wes for two other reasons: 1. legacy and 2. he's an ironman. Wes missed 13 games in 2013 and that's about it. Other than that he's played every game for the rest of his 6 year career. Impressive and something we desperately need.

If you can get Danny Green at half the price and that lets you get Dragic, then I'm down with it. I don't know how much it'd take to drag him out of San Antonio though. You might have to break the bank a little extra to get him and at that point I would opt for Wes.

You think Wes is better than both Gerald and Danny Green?

Danny G: will be 28, career .437/.415/.812 shooting, 13.9/2.2/4.9 per 36 in career
Gerald G: will be 30, carer .425/.369/.823 shooting, 18.2/1.8/4.6 per 36 in career
Wes J: will be 28, career .408/.349/.757 shooting, 11.8/2.0/4.7 per 36 in career

Wes makes peanuts, and I love the idea of having him, Nick, and possibly Ellington to back up the wing spots, but I don't want any of them starting. We need a starting wing, dogg!

The Wes I am referring to is Mathews, not Johnson. Wes Johnson should only be on the team again if we sign a max player and run out of cash. Wes Mathews and Danny Green have comparable numbers. Mathews scores more but takes a few more shots. I would say Mathews is a better defender but Green averages more blocks I think.

I'd prefer Mathews for 10 million but I could see Green for 6 too. I just don't know how much it'd cost to pull Danny Green out of San Antonio.

I would toss Wes Johnson off a boat to get Danny Green instead.

Honestly I feel like Gerald Green isn't too different from Wes except he's had to work a little harder to get to where he is. Gerald Green isn't any smarter or skilled than Wes, but (and this feels a little shocking to type...) I think he might be more focused than Wes Johnson.

Gerald is a solid scorer. I think he scores better than Wes (Johnson!) does anything, honestly.

^ the only thing Johnson has on GG is length, but he hasn't managed to do much with that advantage.

Why do so many people want a new SF? Nick Young is our 6th man, and I think he needs to be in the game during crunch time, so I don't see why we spend big on a new SF. Maybe a cheap, more reliable SF than Wesley Johnson, but I think we have our big-time SF already.

    I'm thinking like this:

By this season's end, Kobe and Nick will have combined to miss at the very least 153 games over the past two seasons. I don't trust either of them to stay healthy for more than 65 games next year, so that means that we need at least one more good player at the wing position. We need a PG, we need a wing, and we need another big. I think we can address one of those in the draft, so we'll need to address the other two via FA.

In other news, Nick Young cannot be our big-time SF. He's a great backup, but he cannot start with this team and make the playoffs.

Young is going to get his chance to play and to start when Kobe's resting (back to backs, 3 games in 4 nights, etc). He's going to get close to 30 minutes, but relying on him and then getting a bargain bin wing leaves us too thin (as T said above). A strong 3 wing rotation is a must, especially if you're going to try to preserve Kobe. A guy like WM is perfect because he's durable, can keep the defense honest with his 3 ball, can lighten the load for Kobe defensively and cover Nick's turn style D.
