Good read, but more importantly: a good look at what it takes to woo Free Agents.

There was more to it than that though. The pitches from other teams were impressive and prepared long before the meeting took place.

    Cool read, thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I thought it was pretty obviously more than about money.

The Rockets pitch has me most intrigued. How do we respond in kind? How do we do better than that pitch? First of all, we'll need a better on-the-court product, but the other parts of it we need to excel at when speaking to George or LeBron or Westbrook or whomever.

Also interesting to note: how Chris Paul glowed about the Rockets just days after signing means a few things: 1) tampering, he knew what they were about well before he got there, 2) the Clippers organization was thrown under the buss immediately, and 3) F*** Chris Paul and David Stern.

If it wasnt bout the $ Iggy wouldnt have gone back to gsw, he did the same thing the last time with Sac, he was trying to goat them to up their offer and Sac called his bluff and iggy no choice but to hide his tail between his legs and run to gsw (obviously worked out for the best). Im sure the pitch was nice from those other team but end of the day iggy wouldve still taken 42 if push comes to shove, just pr spin to me, 4yrs for 42 ir 3yrs for 42...

Not sure if I can completely 100% agree with your conclusion, but I was most fascinated by the inside story of how things went during the free agency process for him.

Yes the process is interesting and a good pitch is difference when $ is the same.....however the underlying theme to article in relation to iggy was still the bottom line, who ever comes with the fattest paycheck wins and he def worked gsw by going to those other team

Wow that was a great read. Who knew?? Props to Andre for taking care of business himself with the final direction of his own free agency with Pelinka no longer at his side ... and his asking price with great intelligence and class.

I wonder how hard it was and how they did it and why it had to be a Hail Mary last overture from Andre that the Warriors finally got him the last million per the 3 years? They were willing to let him walk over that last 1 million?

Two "why(s)". Why would some other team be so stupid to bail them out with Ryan Anderson's contract with all this other whining and moaning from the small market teams going on .....to help Houston build some semblance of another super roster this summer and then be looking at LeBron next year?

And why is La La talking again? I don't follow their personal lives but I thought as of like just a month ago they were split up?

If it was only money though, I think Sacramento could have had him.

If his demands were met, he'd stay, but if not, in a sign and trade scenario w/ Houston or in Sactown, he'd get his money.

i think it's fake drama. made for a fun story, but no way he was actually taking almost HALF the salary to be a back up on a team he knew was going to get spanked by his former team. that's nuts. i think the piece is trying to laud his poker face, but gs won. i'm guessing they'd have gone higher had a team made a real money offer (note that no numbers were presented on the sac offer).

houston somehow gets the small market hero treatment in the media despite not fitting the status in reality.

me, too. teams have helped morey out in the past (principally sac and philly, though our own lakers did once, too). not sure what jedi/voodoo power he has, but i'd just look at anyone who a) has some cap flexibility and b) is a s*** FA destination. still, though, they have to add something. and make no mistake: any melo deal is a prelude to a lebron deal. thus, houston will keep capela, gordon, and ariza for packaging in the inevitable lebron trade that will follow this one.

so, yeah, i'm pretty annoyed. i'm going to be super pissed at the team that eats anderson's contract for a protected first in order to allow team banana boat. super salty as a fan of the team that the league's owners conspired against in order to prevent a less egregious super team formation.

We at least took a pick back which ended up being useful.

I'm still willing to place a wager that LeBron doesn't end up a Rocket.

Melo to OKC for Kanter, McDermott, 2018 Chicago 2nd rounder

If Russ still doesn't sign his extension, this would be really telling for us in regards to an exodus back home to LA.

And yet another nail in Cleveland's coffin to a LaBron exodus.

    Westbrook, George and Melo?

    Lol. They'd need 3 balls.

    PG is ours.
