In very poor taste. The next 20 years are going to be very interesting in the US

Honest question: what is a Muslim person supposed to do today in the US?

Not have a celebratory bake sale on 9/11?

Are they Americans? Are they against Radical Islamic Terrorist? If so, grieve, remember the fallen, or simply go about their day.

I'd have to learn more about the bake sale (do the proceeds go somewhere in particular?), but I'm not honestly bothered by it on the surface.

What if they're using this as a way to try to bridge the gap between the millions of Muslims in America who aren't radical, homicidal fanatics and the millions of Americans who can't tell the difference? Come have a muffin and maybe a discussion about their beliefs and how/why every American agrees 9/11 is one of the most horrific tragedies in the history of the nation? I don't see that as wrong at all.

If that's their goal, I'm all for it. America needs more communication (1 part talking, 2 parts listening). I hope that's the goal. If not, shame on them.

Do you believe their goal is nefarious (again, honest question)?

I honestly have no idea. I read the link posted and some of those associated with the group are doing hard prison time for terrorism, but that doesn't mean this group, in this instance, have ulterior motives.

It's in print above on the internet .... what more proof do we need?

    :Magic Brows:

"It’s like the sweets Muslims hand out in Ramallah and Gaza after a successful murderous jihad attack.

The Muslim Brotherhood-linked, terror-tied Muslim group, the Muslim Students Association, is having a celebration bake sale on September 11th at Hunter College. What would possess a notorious Muslim group named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist funding trial in our nation’s history to have a cake and cookie party on September11th? Islam, of course.

If something comes out as not intended, it's the responsibility of the group whose intentions are misrepresented to dispute it publicly and rebuke the false interpretation.

    ***crickets***

while I can appreciate the sentiment, the intention here is clear

they are celebrating an American tragedy that they are tied to as an identified terrorist associated group, and they are openly rubbing it in America's face while recruiting their young impressionable youth for future terrorist recruiting efforts. It is what it is.

As I search for this story, I only find it on anti-Muslim websites and blogs, and they are all a copy and paste of the same article leading me to call b******* on this one.

If this article had any credibility you would see other news organizations running with it, but I found none. I'm not even sure any Muslim student organization even held a bake sale today, as the only one I found advertised was for the 26th.

I can't speak for anyone's motives and I refuse to draw a conclusion that would mean someone would be so low as to celebrate a tragedy.

Independent of the fact whatever this story is, most of the media would have a problem covering most muslim related controversial topics.

Fox News wouldn't hesitate to cover this and they're not reporting it. The Blaze wouldn't either, and they're not reporting it, etc, etc....

They'd be going crazy if this was true.

I checked the Muslim Student Association FB page for Hunter College and found their last calendar event was on the 8th, and their next is on the 25th. It's true that events could be deleted from FB, but once again, all the Conservative news organizations would have gone crazy, and none did.

Like when Muslims danced in the streets when the twin towers fell?

    This would really surprise you?

But if it's fake news, I just unintentionally was used to spreadful hateful "Anti" type of feelings, and that's not cool.

I try to double check the source next time, and we don't need to be adding fuel to an already combustible situation.

Tv news is for old people. The right is way behind on digital reach.

It doesn't matter if it's for old people or young people. If this article was true, Conservative news organizations would have ran with it. Instead you only see this editorial copy and pasted on unknown blogs, so there's nothing telling me that it has any credibility and isn't completely made up.

Nothing would surprise me, but that doesn't mean I'm going to assume the worst either. I simply will not assume the worst.

Either way, looks like this story is a stinker.
