Connor did way better than I thought he would. If he had a few tuneup fights to get used to the fatigue of a 12 rounder this is very close decision for Floyd. The stoppage was way too soon. No way Connor wins 11 or 12 but he was tired not wobbly. The official judges cards are mind boggling. How did Floyd win 2 of the first four rounds? At least Kellerman was very very wrong. Connor landed a big clean uppercut the very first round. IMO this was an embarrassment to boxing. If sn mma fighter can do this well against the arguably best ever, that's sad.
I guess I don't know boxing at all, because I thought McGregor looked like s***. Floyd looked like he was boxing, and I don't know what McGregor was doing. Flailing, standing and getting hit in the face repeatedly. Good strategy. I guess I'd have liked to see McGregor win because Floyd is a garbage human being, but I didn't really care, it was a circus from the start and that's what the fight delivered too.
Agreed Connor lost due to inexperience and fatigue. He owned the first 4 rounds. But once Mayweather starting getting up close and putting his head on connor's chest, connor didnt know how to fight that the Boxing way. At the end he just got tired. Big props to Connor to go into another man's sport and do that well.
Yikes must disagree big time on this. 1st 3 rounds can definitely be argued to be Conor's, while Floyd was shaking off 2 years of rust and taking measure of his opponent. Conor dictated the action and looked considerably faster and more skilled with the jab and variety of his punches than I surely expected. Especially against an unbeaten master of his sport. Thought we got our money's worth and it was an entertaining fight. "Flailing, standing and getting hit in the face repeatedly." Doesn't feel like we were watching the same fight. He got gassed in the end and had less power from his already not as skillfully leveraged punches and then Floyd went to work. Still incredibly fast with his hand speed at 40. Have edited twice. Changing Conor to Connor and then back again because that's what my rag L.A. Times says. Plaschke of course way off base with this with sham, mismatch and circus thrown into his article. Huge challenge with not one warmup boxing match for McGregor to attempt this against best defensive boxer maybe in history? And he performed well all things considered.
I enjoyed the fight. Thanks for posting the link. I was able to see it and save the $99. McGregor was great. I was only disappointed that he didn't show more power in the first three rounds. I never saw him use his straight overhand left that is his primary weapon. Might be that Floyd never gave him the opportunity. I think two of the three judges were on drugs or on the take. They had McGregor winning only round 1. He clearly won the first three rounds and arguably he won round 4 and 7 as well. Floyd was much more aggressive after round 4 than I expected. I'm not sure why some of you think McGregor was lame. He did better than Manny Paq for crying out loud. Now I want to see Floyd get in the Octagon with Conor and go MMA style. Never happen, but Conor would destroy him.
And go figure. Who'd have ever thought two ring babes as good looking as these could wind up being such an annoyance with their persistence to be always in the frame of wherever the camera was shooting with those ever present smiles. Corona must have put some salary incentive into their contracts.
