I actually liked the game before even more. Hill gives up 3 dingers in the 1st inning, but ends up figuring it out and making it work. They were being no-hit into the 5th inning and came back and hit 5 home-runs. Just amazing. This team is so damn dangerous right now.
It's wild. I watched until the very last pitch because I just knew a team like the White Sox would have a hard time pitching late in this game. This is without a doubt the greatest Dodger team of all time.
I think to get the "of all time" rank they need to finish the job. I have liked the pieces we put together from the start but we all know we have not gotten the hits and pitching in the playoffs. I love this team. Im now looking at the WS to be honest.
Dodgers have to win it all for this all to work. I think they will. Enjoy the regular season though. It's been the most fun to watch and I've seen a lot of baseball in my life, especially Dodgers baseball. My hope, 126-49 and a World Series Title.
You're right I misspoke. They're not the "greatest" but they are the most talented. I don't think that can be denied anymore.
I'm arguing with one of my friends who writes on the Dodgers. This is just a damn good move. Probably gave up some cash or a no-name prospect and Granderson is a legitimate hitter. The media was clamoring for Stanton, but Granderson gives us a Stanton-lite basically for free. Granderson's season numbers aren't great, but his stats since May are encouraging: .266/.384/.570. His numbers over the last month: .253/.382/.603. Here's the splits from some of our guys: Grandal: .263/.316/.470 Bellinger: .275/.357/.616 Utley: .232/.324/.405 Seager: .310/.397/.517 Turner: .345/.436/.565 Taylor: .310/.379/.549 Puig: .252/.336/.462 Forsythe: .247/.371/.332 Here's the real problem though: Pederson: .215/.329/.418 Pederson the last month: .127/.250/.309 Granderson is here to push Pederson and if Pederson doesn't figure out his swing, he's not making the playoff roster despite his defense. Of course Granderson is not a good defender at all in CF anymore, he's just too old. We'd have to probably get Taylor over to CF. We could trot out: 1) Taylor 2) Seager 3) Turner 4) Bellinger 5) Granderson 6) Puig 7) Forsythe 8) Grandal 9) Pitcher No holes. That team has power up to the 6th spot, a great at-bat with Forsythe, and then solid power through Grandal. Just amazing...
What these boys are doing is amazing. If they can keep this poise and never die attitude in the playoffs man I can't see them losing a series to anyone. They have to hit though. I mean Rich Hill throws nearly a perfect game into extra innings and is the losing pitcher. That has been are issue the last few playoff runs not being able to push runs across the board not only leaving men on base but in scoring position.
They've hit a terrible stretch of not hitting with runners in scoring position. What's up with that? They've got too much firepower not to capitalize right now.
I think its 2 things. one is the Cody effect. They simply are a better offensive team when he is playing. Heard a stat today that the dodgers get shut out 1 out 7 games when Cody isn't in and 1 out of 30+ games when he is in. Thats crazy stats. The second, and prob more important one, is I think Roberts is doing a ton of tinkering getting guys rest and getting other guys back up to speed. I think out rhythm is kinda off but it is also what happens when you as 20+ games up in your division and leading the majors already in the season. Still not liking these leaving men on base things but I do think that we are not the same team as last year. Yu not looking great and the ump is killing us with the strike zone today. We still down 3-0 at this point
I was driving, but I heard it on the radio. They were saying that Yu was missing the strikezone and couldn't get his curve where he wanted it. You're probably right. I think there's a factor of unfamiliarity at play. They are probably also slowing down a bit, slogging trying to get to the post season already.
I didn't think Yu looked bad. He did have some issues with that curve but the slider (I think) was working. I thought he got squeezed a couple times on strikes that were called balls. The error (by Seagar I think) cost a run. He had a high pitch count but did pretty good. On to this 2 game (now looking like 3 game since we down 7-5 in bottom 8. not over but sheesh) losing streak. I think it is good for us that we hit some bumps in the road. They have to remember what it feels like to scuffle a little bit. I dont care about 116 wins I care about what it takes to win the WS. This may be a blessing in disguise.
I'm just excited to get Bellinger back in the lineup. Our record with him is unbelievable, while our record without him is merely astounding.
Damn forgot they were on KTLA last night. Oh well sounds like not a fun game to see. Now that I've had some time with the team yeah WOW Bellinger.
looking at this game looks as if this hiccup will continue as our pitchers haven't been stellar, we have had a few errors and not a lot of hitting. Again, if we are going to hit a bump this is ideal time to hit considering how far we are ahead. still sucks to see them be mortal.
There were some solid contacts in the last game before we got some runs scored, but Arizona has us figured out right now. They've got our pitchers locked in, they've got our bats going where they want them. Not good. Especially since there's a decent chance we'll see them in the playoffs. Hopefully this re-lights the fire for the squad.
