Is any else sick of hearing from old punch drunk boxers and crooked boxing promoters about how great boxing is compared to trash mma that they now are hoping super hard Connor actually wins by KO?

I'm definitely sick of hearing old boxers tell us that McGregor has no shot. These guys are all pride. If an MMA fighters walks into the ring and beats, or heaven forbid KOs, what some people consider the best fighter of all time... that's an enormous blow to their ego and their sport.

All mcgregror has to do is not get embarrassed and that's a huge insult to boxing.

He looks way too slow if that's as fast as he can go. Doubt he can touch Floyd's head even at 40 years old. Hopefully Connor is quicker than this short clip.

It was round 11 or 12, but he will have to be much faster.

Mcgregor basically has nothing to lose this fight, if he wins then it's one of then biggest upsets in history, if he loses he's made 100 million and no or expected him to win anyway.

So of course everyone in boxing wants him to lose or says he has no chance.

I'm trying to think of a comparison, it would be like the worlds best 9 ball player beating Ronnie O Sullivan in a best of 19 Snooker match.

Connor is more of a setup guy than a speed guy. He's going to fake a right straight or a right hook to set up the power in his left, but Paulie is no joke. If he can hit Paulie, that's already impressive. The fact that he won some rounds and then was tagging Paulie late is REALLY impressive. Boxers should be more respectful for that.

The videos don't prove he can fight Floyd, but the definitely prove that Connor isn't the joke that all these boxing guys want him to be.

Quite right, what everyone says about Connor after they fight him isn't "he's so fast" it's "i have never seen anyone with his timing and punch placement" He has power no doubt, but it's his odd angles, precision, and fantastic timing that let that left do the damage. He may not be quick enough to catch PBF, but those things just might let him land regularly.

The thing is, if he can tag Floyd with one good shot, Floyd is in trouble. If Connor can find the angle (the tallest order in all of boxing), I think he can win this fight. At 40, with taking maybe a handful of real shots his entire career... if Connor gets one great hit in, he can shock the world.

In other words: he's got a puncher's chance.

I'm personally pulling for a great action fight and a knockout.

If McGregor gets knocked out, it's not entirely a bad thing for boxing. And he's so arrogant and cocky, it will be interesting to see how he'd handle this loss to Mayweather. I'm not sure Mayweather can knock him out though.

I'd like Mayweather to get knocked out for a number of reasons.

The only interesting thing to me about this fight is how will PBF handle Connor's very odd striking angles. Boxing is very much locked in a distinct method of movement, angles, getting in and out of range, and even footwork. Where as, MMA striking does things completely alien to those systems. I do believe Floyd will adjust to it over time, depending on what Connor roles out and when he does, but how effective will those super unorthodoxed in terms of boxing, techniques be? Again dispite hoping Connor absolutely crushes him and in turn shames boxing, I think PBF wins a yawner of a decision, but you know "unorthodoxed punchers chance".

Floyd says he's not going with his usual defensive snooze inducing style, but owes the fans an exciting fight after the Manny fight. He claims he's going to come at Connor. Does anyone believe that for a second? If true, is that better or worse for Connor?

Second, why are the odds so low? I figured they'd be 20:1 or something ridiculous. Is the fix in? Is floyd willing to take a dive to set up the trilogy, worth close to $1billiob for him alone?

I heard odds change based on the money that has been bet.

I think MacGregor got to him in the mental warfare and Mayweather is increasing his opponents odds if he does that.

If Mayweather is aggressive, I think that plays into Connor's hands a lot more. All said and done Mayweather is still 40 years old, playing in small gloves, against a 29 year old man in his prime. If Mayweather can't knock out Connor early, he could very well lose the fight.

I don't think he's willing to sell his legacy for the payday, but if he is that'd still be awesome. I'd love to see him get knocked out even if he got knocked out on purpose. :D

In a perfect world Connor KOs him with one of those old school traditional martial arts punches where you don't turn your wrist over ala Bruce Lee and Anderson Silva.

Who's paying the $100 here? I hate that I am starting to think about doing it when no boxers ever hit Floyd so likely Connor won't either. But great comments above from you guys. Getting my interest up. :dwightcrying:

This is Conner from 10 years ago. He had the ability to stand in and throw back then, wow.

I'm really looking forward to this fight to see how he matches up.
