FWIW I'm a Notre Dame fan. I grew up watching Tim Brown in college...and then I watched his whole career with the Raiders...and now he's in the HoF. That's so awesome. I'm really, really happy for him.
Brown is inducted. Cliff Branch isn't...and has three rings. Weird. He is more deserving than other wide-outs that have gone in.
Cliff Branch never got the pub he deserved. Kind of like Bob Hayes for the Cowboys in the 60s. His speed really was a game changer.
yessir...a bit off topic, have you seen Draft Day? great football movie...makes me wonder how Reggie McKenzie acts on that day lol
Mock draft at a fansite... 1. Brandon Scherff T Iowa 2. Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA 3. Rashad Greene WR Florida State 4. Stephone Anthony LB Clemson 5. Xavier Williams DT Northern Iowa 6. Jon Feliciano G The U 7. Ken Bell WR Nebraska All in except ?'s at 3 and 7... Greene is smooth but not a burner or game breaker. Bell is big and very good having seen some Husker games. I like the thinking...build a solid foundation along the lines. Add note: based on winning % of opponents, squad has 7th toughest schedule for next season. Ooohh, we get a slight break? [rolls eyes]
I pray we don't touch Rashad if we're looking at WR. I know him personally, I think he's a good kid, but he's not a first round draft pick.
Ahh! I get it. If he comes later, like 3rd (as listed, duh), I'd be more okay with that. He's small, but he's really fast. He's in the Welker/Amendola mold. Excellent hands. He's tough, but he's not big enough to block at the NFL level.
If that is the case...then I'd rather pick Agholor who has breakaway speed after the catch. He is dangerous with experience as the first option. Also, Strong from ASU or Josh Harper...Carr's target from Fresno State. Both are well above 6 foot feet and more physical if we are looking for blocking on the perimeter. Oh and I hope Brice Butler gets more minutes. Denarious Moore? Out... Disappeared for much of the season. Holmes? Good potential but very inconsistent too.
I think Holmes will be back. His potential is greater than any other Oakland receiver, and he has started to scratch the surface of his talent. Age 24: 2 receptions, 11 yards Age 25: 25 receptions, 431 yards, 1 TD Age 26: 47 receptions, 692 yards, 4 TD I like what I see with him. He's not expensive, and if we can get another quality WR across from him or a guy underneath to do some dirty work, I think he'll excel. 60 grabs, 800-900 yards, and 6 or 7 TDs next a possibility.
^Interesting progression of his young career. Nice to see his upward trajectory. I like Holmes' size against the big corners that seem to pop up all over defensive backfields nowadays. On a positive note, I am happy with Carr's quick reads to go along with that lightning release. It saves him and the linemen from extra work. He is on board as thrilled with Musgrave's plan to implement the no-huddle this upcoming season. April is so long away...
We're already better than last year, and we move from the #1 most difficult schedule to the #7 schedule. That's more good news.
